    D8L trans over heating

I know this is an old thread but I was wondering if you had any luck? Only asking as I found a D9L and a D10N doing the same thing recently and it turned out being the brake linkage under the floor sticking. Not much fun under there after a while when the tranny has been a little hot!

    D9L exhaust studs

Thanks for the replies. I will talk to the dealer about 7/16 studs and I am putting new manifolds on it so will have to drill them out too. It is a job that certainly tests your patience!

    D9L exhaust studs

Hello all, Havent been on for ages and have a question for someone. Have been digging out broken studs from the heads of a 3412 (exhaust) with the aid if the Cat broken stud remover and realized that the kit is for 3/8 studs and mine has 7/16 thus I had to make more inserts for the cat tool to...

So . . . what's the go with glowing turbos?

Have a C16 in a tractor and that gets a nice cherry red. I dunno about my Fendt, there is too many covers over the engine to tell, but a 7.1 litre engine developing 360 hp me thinks it would be very red!!!

    International/Rolls Royce combo?

Its funny all tis talk of a TD20 with a RR, I was at a blokes place in Muntagin in WA (Aust) and there was one at his shed, didnt look like a runner but it did look complete. As for British gear I dont like Bedfords much!!! They had nothing on the Accos of the same vintage but I will fess up to...

    Fiat AD12 steering clutch problems

I hope I dont ruin your day but I went down the same road with ours and it wasnt till we changed the O rings that we solved it. The oil doesnt take too long at all to warm up in the clutches when it is first used, particularly when you are having to use the brakes a lot to get them to let go...

    FIAT AD12 final drive problem

I hope you can get away with it cheaply. I had mine snap 13 teeth on the right side and 3 on the other and had to replace the top gear, (pinion) the itermediate and the bull gear as well as the cast bits so we watched it very closely from that time on. I ended up selling the dozer 7 or 8 years...

    FIAT AD12 final drive problem

They were a great old machine and punched above their weight but the finals were their big let down. Dont let the brass sleave wear too much on the outside on the track frame as it doesnt take much to start ripping teeth off the bull gear and the intermediate gear. Also there is a large cast...

    Fiat AD12 steering clutch problems

Have you changed the O rings on the pistons inside the clutch? If not, its not that bad, remove the tank ect and have the machine in a spot where you can roll it along so you can undo the bolts around the clutch and lift it with a sling. From memory to get the pistons out (once the clutch is...

    Good video of vibrating ripper

I think they need to work out how to use the ripper properly. He has it way too far back and doesnt pull it under to keep loading on the tracks. If the machine was used a bit more efficiently they may not need the vibrator. All that aside those things a hell on the machine in just about every...

How much do you give back to the community?

Sometimes it just gets a bit complicated. I often take machines to bush fires and I dont charge if it is on private land however if it is on government land then I charge the full rate plus cartage. I never used to charge on government land until the goverment started charging a fire levy on...

Cat 10 or 12 motor grader

I have a 'moden' one a 12E it always starts and keeps going. Just a while ago we completed a large job with it and a D47u and the combined age of the two machines is a hunded and nine years!! The pair of them are likely to live longer than me. Cant exactly remember but wasnt the pony on them...

    Silly Question

I had a struggle with the early JD graders with the blade lift for both sides on the one hand, but I guess I was used to the Cat layout. I havent been in one for years now so I dont know what the go is on later models.

Do we have any A/C experts here?

It annoys me how they use stickers on gear that they should know gets pressure washed ect. Why cant they engrave or stamp it or at least use a decal that wont come off. Makes it hard when you have to work out for yourself how much gas should go in.

when a crane touches a power line

How things change. I used to work in the goldfields about 20 years ago and it was anything goes and now it looks as if the pendulum has swung way to far the other way. If I worked by the same rules as the mining industry I think I would be broke in a week!!! Look on the bright side rare SS you...
