    ''steep slopes on dozers''

D6R XL, it went steeper for a bit and then flattened out.

    Almost, but not quite.

What parts where down the quickest on your excavation machinery?

Thats in extreme conditions however you could kill a set of air filters that fast in extreme dust as well.

What parts where down the quickest on your excavation machinery?

Actually I think filters win this challenge.

    Cats moving 500,000 lb oak

I am actually fairly impressed they managed to get every single machine's U/C completely backwards, and have as much force possible in the opposite direction ever intended on a blade. At least if the dozers were going forward they would only have the force of the excavator pulling on the blade...

    Who Backdrags?

Cutting edges are on the front for a reason. The whole front of the blade is covered with hardened steel to protect the much softer steel on the back. You see what the dirt does to the cutting edge bolts, why would you be naive enough to think it's not also wearing down the back of the frog...

    PAT blades

They are thinner so it's possible to dent the blade skin. Same goes for tearing if the skin is a bit worn. Every movement of that blade (angle, tilt, etc) has a bushing, and there's the main ball itself. Harsh contact squeezes the grease out and causes bushing wear so stay on top of greasing...

    Scraper bowl identification

    GRADERS for Road maintance

14-16 ft mould boards, one grader per 2km if conditions are good, one grader per 1km if you have bad rutting. If there is a lot of wet material AWD graders work awesome.

    fast loading

For 10km haul you are looking at 3-4 either 14 or 16 series graders if conditions are poor. If conditions are that poor I would suggest running a combination disk/box blade instead of two of the graders to dry the road/knock ruts down, then a grader for each to reshape the road. Another...

    Difference between D6R & D6RXL ?

XL has 20cm more track length on the ground (longer roller frames) and has higher horsepower for finish grading and increased production. The longer frames make it easier to finish and allow more floatation. The track pad widths offered are the same as a standard tractor but you have a lower...

Caterpillar 319D LN climbing onto a rail car (video)

I've done similar things with excavators. Believe it or not but this clip actually inspired the heavy equipment portion of the Mythbusters episode "Duct Tape Plane". It's a very simple concept, no different than climbing up a bench or loading a machine onto a highboy without a detachable...

Hell no, looked like both this 390D L and the 385C L they were comparing it to were running 6yd buckets.

Looking for a model: Truck, jeep, low-boy, and stinger, "HO" scale.

Try this: http://www.hobbylinc.com/cgi-bin/s8.cgi?cat_s=U&mfg_s=hrp&str_s=heavy%20haul You can piece together what you want. They have a couple trucks you want, plus the lowboy with jeep. The "Noteboom Pendel-X Heavy Haul Trailer" is another trailer option that would probably fit the other jeep.

    Brake on scapers

Another thing to mention, most times having a scraper in 1st gear gives it enough torque to run through the brakes so it's not recommended in situations where you have to idle along and then try to stop. Neutral is your friend when you've gone far enough.
