    580C Power Shuttle Rebuild

I have been buying all my parts for the 580C rebuild from equipmentpartssource.com. Thier prices have been the best and I have been very pleased with the quality and speed of shipping. Marc is the guy that runs the operation. He has always been very helpful.

Replacing top swing pin bushing - tips?

I need to replace the top swing pin bushing on a case 580c (model 35 backhoe). Are there any tips on doing this without pulling the lower pin? The lower pin is in good shape and I hate to split the whole hoe. Thanks in advance.

    JD 410 Backhoe Clutch Problem

So to make sure I understand. The clutch lever is moving freely, but the control arm to the clutch itself will not move. Is that correct? How much pressure have you acually used? Switch to the hyguard and that will help some on the dragging clutches, but it is not unusual to have that drag...

    580C Power Shuttle Rebuild

Rebuild complete. About 6 hours from the time I cracked the case to the time the shuttle was back in the backhoe ready for a test run. Works great now. Previously, it would barely get moving in 1st gear. Someone had been inside the unit before using generous amounts of silicone gasket maker...

    580C Power Shuttle Rebuild

Got all the parts in and pulled the power shuttle over the weekend. Suspect badly worn forward clutch pac (pressures good and reverse works fine). Hope to get it rebuilt on turkey day. Any pitfalls or special procedures I need to be aware of? Thanks in advance.

    Ripper or rake?

I vote rake The rake will be much more handy. I have never really had a need for a ripper, but the rake gets quite a bit of use piling brush.

    580C Torque Converter

Thanks for the reply. The screen was actually very clean. No clutch fines at all and no "shinyness" to the fluid like you when clutch linings are smoked. Someone has at least pulled the pan before since they applied an excessive amount of silcone during the install. I ordered my...

    580C Torque Converter

580C TC and Power Shuttle Moving to the next problem on rehabilitating this backhoe. The unit has no power moving foward. No problem going backward and it will move in 1st gear but not up a hill. I have cleaned the screen and refilled the TC and PS with TCH but that did not make any...

    Bent stablilizer rod

Pulled the two stabilizer cylinders apart to replace leaky seals and noted that the rod on the left cylinder is bent. About 3/8" over 12". Chrome is in really bad shape so I am not sure it is worth attempting to straighten it and then getting it rechromed Any sources for used rods? Thanks

    Case 580C Kingpin issues

Thanks for the suggestions I think I will cut the kingpin and thrust bearing with a torch, jack the spindle up and cut the bottom of the king pin. I should then be able to remove the spindle whereafter I can drive out the two short pieces in the axle with a little heat. I can then press out...

    Case 580C Kingpin issues

Kinda what I thought Yes the locking pin actually came out as it should. I was kinda afraid that was going to be the answer. Where you able to save the kingpin? Would it be easier to just cut the kinpin and thrust bearing with the torch and then heat and drive out the remaining short...

    Case 580C Kingpin issues

Just got the 580C home to begin work on it. The right kingpin bearings are shot. No problem there. Ordered a kit previously when I noted this issue during one of my "get it running to load" trips. Problem is the left kingpin/spindle is completely frozen. I managed to work it to where I get...

    Trouble Bleeding 580C

Working on an 580C recently given to me. It has been sitting for a bout 2 years. Replaced the bad lines on the hoe and now am working to get the engine going so I can bring it home. Engine starts right up but loses power and then dies after about 15 seconds. I changed the fuel filters and...

    John Deere 850B dozer?

I have a 750B as well. It is a nice nimble machine and has served me well around the farm. I would not us it for sustained heavy pushing (it lacks the weight anyway), but for general clearing, small ponds (5-10,000 cu-yards) it works well. I was able to locate a fresh set of pumps and motors...
