Anyone who has put in a "universal" exhaust muffler on their machine?

Or, perhaps I`ll try to weld it... If a straight replacement would have been normally priced I would have never considered it, but this is way overpriced..

Anyone who has put in a "universal" exhaust muffler on their machine?

Hello, the exhaust muffler on my Kubota U50-3@ has started to leak slightly. I have received a price for a new OEM muffler from my local (Norwegian) Kubota dealer: 950 Euro / 960 USD..... Preeeety steep price.. One can buy a similar sized universal muffler for around 40-50 Euro/USD.... So my...

Color code for Kubota dark grey cab

Hello, I have a Kubota U50-3@ year 2006. The cab is mostly white with some dark grey around door. It has a lot of rust, so I want to paint the whole cab as the newer models: All dark grey? Anybody who know the color code for this dark grey (almost black?) Or knows more specifically what this...

Anybody who has liftet the cab to renew the rubber seal and paint

Hello all, I have a Kubota U50. The white paint on the cab is not looking very nice. A lot of rust. There is a sponge like seal under the cab to keep out rainwater. This seal seems to let water into the cab and absorbs water creating rust and green growth. I would like to lift the cab slightly...

Sideways play due to gear clearances: any remedy?

If one could get hold of a slightly "over-sized" swing motor gear pinion that is over sized to compensate for wear of the ring gear, then that could save one for changing also the ring gear. But I guess that would not be possible to obtain. And I guess it is somewhat time consuming to change...

Sideways play due to gear clearances: any remedy?

Hello Vetech63, Ah, yes, of course, I see now from my own photo what you mean. The swing motor fits snugly in a hole restricting any sideways movement. Ok, I will just have to live with this sideways play I guess... Thanks for the swift comment anyway!

Sideways play due to gear clearances: any remedy?

Hello all. I own a Kubota U50-3@ year: 2006. There is some sideways play in the swing mechanism. I have had off the cover plate revealing the ring gear and swing motor gear. I lifted the bucket off the ground and had a friend push on the bucket the back and forth while I looked at the gear mesh...

    Pin/Bush grease interval

How often do you guys grease all your grease fittings? I try to do mine every 10 running hours, but sometimes I forget. I try to put the boom, stick and bucket in different positions when greasing in case this helps in getting out old hardened grease/ get the grease to go different ways..

    Thumb problems KX-71

After some searching on the internet I find that these original relief valves are really heavily priced... $330 each ! I found a stock with just the one for half the price which I have ordered. And now I am wondering if I can manage with just the one..? Does anybody have a opinion whether it is...

    Thumb problems KX-71

Hello Willie, Thank you very much for your splendid explanation. That is what I also wanted to hear, so now I will just need to buy a couple of these port reliefs and install them straight in the aux spool :)

    Thumb problems KX-71

Thanks Willie59, Jack and Lantraxco for you comments! Could you have a look at the attached the parts diagrams for my aux and bucket spool? And tell me if you think these relief valves on the bucket spool are port reliefs? (They are described as "Assy relief valve" in the parts list..) The...

    Thumb problems KX-71

Hello Willie59, please have a look at my valveblock of my Kubota U50-3@ 2006 model: I am about to install a hydraulic thumb and need to make sure I will not ruin it straight away. Most of my circuits/spools here have 2 relief valves (one on each side of the valveblock) and I don`t see any...

    Thumb hydraulics

Yes, I am about to order a pin on thumb from Showtime Fabrication.. I I suppose, one or to relief valves from somewhere..o_O

    Thumb hydraulics

Thank you 007 :) All of the spools that show a relief valve in the picture (bucket, stick and blade) had two relief valves. There was one on each side of these spools. (opposite sides). It is difficult to take a picture of the other side since the wall of the cabin is very close by. So for some...

    Thumb hydraulics

What I really hope to hear is that these type of relief valves are always "active" and that they dump the excess oil to their "twin line" (in the same spool) + internal valve block return line.. Then all I need to do for a thumb install is install two such relief valves and adjust them so that...

    Thumb hydraulics

Sorry for maybe bothering people with yet another thumb hydraulics post. But yes, I have read most of the other posts about the topic, but I still am a bit confused, especially when trying to investigate and understand how my own machine (Kubota U50-3@ year: 2006) is set up.. Here is a picture...

    damaged slewing ring CAT 301.8

Max301.8: Could I ask you: does your swing motor have oil fill and oil drain plugs for the lower gearbox section of the swivel motor? I am thinking that I should change the gear-oil on mine, but cannot see any plugs and therefore wondering if this is normal or not.. Very appreciative for any...

Oil change of swing motor gearbox, Kubota U50/KX161

Thank you very much for your tips AirBornOne! But: The plug you have circled is in the upper part of the body. Am I not right in believing that the gearbox should be in the lower part and the hydraulic motor is in the upper part of the body? So: Should not any oil fill/drain plugs for the...

Oil change of swing motor gearbox, Kubota U50/KX161

I see now that there must be some mistake/ mix-up with the exploded parts view of the gearbox section. (the exploded view and the list of parts do not coincide. Neither do the two exploded views (The entire motor versus the gearbox section) So I am guessing I have a different gearbox than this...
