650J Blade Ball and Socket Joint

I'm gonna kinda repeat blademan here, with a little more emphasis. :salute Not only is anti-seize NOT locktite, it's COMPLETELY the opposite! :) Be sure everything is super clean, esp the mating surfaces. Any dirt/paint/rocks/burrs/pulled holes/etc will compromise the union. Use locktite...

Do you know how to disassemble this cylinder?

I could be wrong, but it looks very similar to the steering ram on my Ford. With the rod in some, you push the gland into the cylinder and it exposes a snap ring that you remove by traditional means then pull the rod/gland out...

I swear I heard turbo whine! See this too- http://youtu.be/xosLzgt-zUk @heavylift, I agree, if that loader had the right background and at a little distance it would take a minute to realize the size...

    Removeable hoe?

We used to run Ford 4500's, (same config as a 545) as a backhoe one day and box scraper the next. A couple of hyd lines and some big nuts that tension the latches. The "modern" version is the Ford 765 backhoe attachment...

Fix it or put it out to pasture?

Hey Patrick- First of all, I appreciate your plight, you are not a professional, there is no profit, no bottom line, and no reason to spend your money on rentals, contractors and mechanics unless absolutely necessary. You just want a machine, to use when you need it. Bear in mind that a lot of...

Ha ha Reel if you look in the background of my pic above you will see the red twin of your truck :) Even rust in the same place. Not a roll-off tho a flat dump.. I've always thought the roll-off was an under-used concept- think about it- a company with a small fleet of skips and/or skid steers...

    Transporting the dead

Over twenty years ago my boss told me to recover a 3 axle crane that he had abandoned in an oilfield 10+ years before that. Being a kid that didn't know any better I fabbed up a towbar from oilfield tubing, and welded some tabs to the front of the crane. I went out with a 10 wheel dumptruck...
