    580B Filter and fluid question

One more thing that I noticed...keep an eye on you clutch pedal. Make sure the return spring is bringing it all the way back up. Hook your toe under it and pull up. Watch you gauge when you do this. I found that my clutch was staying partially engaged. Add another spring. I worked my...

alright...alright...quit nagging :D That indeed did seem to solve the problem(s) *knock wood* I Haven't worked it real hard, but she was doin' wheelies! Pressure held steady..it used to drop off real quick. I've got some cosmetic stuff to do (new seat!) then I'll really work her...

    580B Filter and fluid question

Major dis-assembly yesterday...Removed the spacer tube between the booms (over the fuel tank). Used a spreader to open to gap enough to remove the tube. Removed the fuel tank...removed the hydraulic crossover lines...unbolted and "come-alonged" the steering column to the roof...unhooked...

    Case 580B fuel tank removal

Everything so far points to the pump. I'm going to put together a pressure gauge to test it at the filter housing. There wasn't a trans filter in it and the fluid was full of water. I've replaced the fluid/filter and I'm going to fire it up this weekend to test the pump that's there. The...

I'm hoping to avoid splitting the tractor...I'm assuming I can get the shuttle pump out the top of the shuttle tub with the fuel tank removed?

    add-on shuttle fluid cooler for a 580B

Thanks for the help Phil... It's finally warmed up enough here for me to get out and work on her...yesterday we really tore into it for the first time since I brought it home. I'm trying to determine if my "won't move after a bit of use" is due to fluid/filter (water in the shuttle and no...

    Case 580B fuel tank removal

How does the fuel tank come off? Forward it hits the valve cover, backward it hits the steering column. Above it is a lighter metal "tube" running between the loader arms...can this be cut and welded? It looks more like a spacer between the arms.

    580B Filter and fluid question

Well...we went at it today. Took the top off the trans filter housing...no filter. Drained the shuttle...at least a quart of clear spring water out of each drain before the oil (green) flowed. As a bonus, the radiator was dry.

    580B Filter and fluid question

Is the front shuttle filter included on this list? As for gear oil and Dexron III...I'm assuming 5 gal buckets will be enough?

    580B Filter and fluid question

I'm at a disadvantage...the machine is at my woodlot still covered in snow. I only ran it for a day before I put it away. If I remember correctly, the pressure gauge dropped off, which made me assume pump. The fluid is milky, making me think (hope) that maybe it's a combination of...

    580B Filter and fluid question

Does the machine have to be split to replace the pump? Anyway to tell if it's the pump rather than the bad seal rings? I'm assuming the pump is a remove/replace where as the seals are a rebuild? Local CASE dealer quoted me $2700 to rebuild the shuttle.

    580B Filter and fluid question

I've got the floor removed right now...I figured (hoped) that there would be an access plate under there for the pick-up screen. The "Bads" that you list...are they all componants of the shuttle? What would your next step be?

    580B Filter and fluid question

The more I work it the more it feels like the Fwd/Rev lever doesn't do anything. The machine moves fine upon start, then begins get "weak" feeling, then refuses to move at all. The fluid was milky, so I figure that's a good place to start.

    580B Filter and fluid question

Mine has the torque converter (I think :) Forward/Reverse lever on column. Jeeps are really more my thing...I'm really new to this heavy equipment. I'm having an issue with the machine moving forward or back after working it which would lead me to suspect the power shuttle. I'm going to...

    580B Filter and fluid question

I want to swap all the filters and fluids possible on my '75 580BCK. What am I looking at for fluid amounts? Number of filters? What about fluid and filter types...Case only or are there options. Short of going into the Case dealer and asking for every filter and fluids to fill the...
