    Bucket wear bar repair

Our 210 was an ex city machine that was primarily used with a “vee” bucket Some sketchy patching…wear strips extending an inch out past the sides (as Tugger2 describes) could have prevented this significant damage. I had to put a new bottom on a Hitachi 120 dig bucket (previous owners had...

You are right, the downhill passing lanes are uncommon….

    Any brand log trucks

Drive hwy 24 a fair bit, that is a big descent….down into Little Fort…saw a truck tipped over back in 2005 on one of the run-away lanes. Really nice scenery up on the plateau.

Are dozer tracks gateways to another dimension?

This is the “law of falling objects” The nut, bolt, etc will travel a very large distance from the drop zone!

Land has been cut and left in a mess. Best cheapest way to plant trees and fix it up?

Worked north of Mackenzie for 7 years up in the Toodoggone! That is indeed a big tree crusher!

Whats the best year/model of the D5 high track

Did a lot of drill road layout in the Toodoggone back in the early 2000’s. The contractor used a D8/roadbuilder excavator with a D5H TSK for finishing, skidding etc. the crew really liked that machine…reliable, versatile & well balanced dozer.

    Dump truck park position

Just now finished welding several patches in ours up near the hoist ‘tower’ no one ever bothered to shovel out the packed mud and it rusted out nicely! Our tailgate definitely won’t hold back water The yard has a slope so park there in the winter.

Ramps for loading skid steer on F800 flatbed

Just be really careful, even a slightly off level setup on wet ramps can cause a machine to slide sideways….really slow & easy at the break over point. For that much weight (T740 approximately 10,000lbs) I would definitely want support mid-span. I think this type of transport is pretty...

Ramps for loading skid steer on F800 flatbed

We load on a Ford F7000 flat deck, but have/or build dirt ‘loading docks’ at each end. Would be nice to have a short beaver tail & some spring(?) loaded flip up ramps. Just haven’t gotten around to building some yet. Straight ramps up to 4’ indeed is pretty steep (or as said above requires...

1997 Ford LT9000 tandem dump truck

We are also in the process of putting new drives on our tandem. Sailun 917, $4300 cdn all in. Lots of loggers have been using these with pretty good results and we had a set on our single axle dump a few years back. First time with daytons so put the first 2 on at home for practice…lol 11r/22.5...

    Different transmission configurations

Loggers here, typically tri-drive with 18sp.

    Different transmission configurations

New to an 8LL but seems easy to shift and really creeps in lo....not sure about our highway speed yet. Found the line set ticket and it shows a rear ratio of 5.38 (mistakenly thought it was a 4.xx)

    Safety BS

Momentarily unweighting a seat can happen really easily, especially as you say while turning/twisting in your seat to look to the side/rear etc. Ironically all the 'engineered' safeties have created a potentially dangerous situation...your last paragraph probably sums up the situation pretty well.

Welcome from BC! We owned a 773 Bobcat for several years, it was our acreage machine. The Kubota V2203 was a great engine. Ours was a similar vintage as yours with the same style boom linkage.

Kubota U27 and small jobs question

Your ripper looks really well built, and I can see how that would really improve stumping ability while putting less wear and tear on the machine.

Kubota U27 and small jobs question

Can you legally haul a 27 with a half ton? Just make sure and scale the setup to confirm....this will avoid any nasty (and expensive) surprises with the CVSE. If so then a U27 can still do a good amount of work, with the limitations that have been mentioned... As you say you could always...

Kubota U27 and small jobs question

Agree ^^^^ with all of the above. I think the U35-4 would be a great choice, in hindsight I would have picked it over the KX-040. Near the same capabilities but zero (or very close to it) tail swing and as a bonus no DPF to deal with.

Kubota U27 and small jobs question

Light clearing and stump removal can be done with a small unit, but it will be very time consuming and puts the operator and machine in very close to your work (think safety concerns). I have a lot of hours on that size machine, a couple of years ago I used a Hitachi ZX27 to open up an access...

    Strange buyer's

We also live in a rural area (6000 or so) with a larger town of around 20,000 within half an hour. In the last 5 years or so 3 large storage compounds have appeared...lay down crush, put up a chain link fence, and presto within a few months (or less) the compound is filled with a couple hundred...
