2016 Diesels? Duramax, Cummins or Powerstroke?

The cummins is a great engine but Im just not a fan of what it's in. I had really bad luck outa the dodges I've had experience with. It seemed like everything but the motor gave us problems, especially the transmission, it would over heat in a second when towing a Dozer, ended up dropping a...

    Buying a dozer

IMO the D4k will do what the D5G will. I've worked both dining the same kinda work and I would go with the K over the G.

My new to me D5K XL.

Great choice PNECAT. Lancelot, I currently run an 2003 D5G XL and a 2014 D5K2 XL, both are nice machines but the K2 is a cadillac compared to the G. I like running the G raking, clearing fence rows, pushing fire breakes, ect.... I usually use the K2 reworking, opening up, and building roads for...

    New Cat Skidder

A good friend of mine bought a 525D a couple of months ago. Ive ran it a little, always been a deere fan, grew up on the 548 and 648G3's, but once again like the new cat dozers I was impressed. It is very comfortable to operate and can not believe how quiet it is. Only problem that I know he has...

    Looking for a new dozer

X2 Or if you are wanting a cat look at a D5k or K2. I've always been a huge fan of the JD 650J's but the K modle cats are hard to beat.

    CAT D5G won't start

It's been sitting about a week, as far as everything electrical its all works, A/C, lights, radio, ect... But when you turn the key the engine won't turn over, doesn't even try. I've checked all the fuses and the only 2 relays that I saw which where in the battery compartment and all those...

    Reliable $5k-15k Dozer...

Take look at the johndeere 450c. I see them all the time for $10k-$20k In good shape. I've spent some time on a couple of them scraping roads and never had any issues with them.

    Deere 650j or 700j

Since it sounds like your gonna be mostly in a wide open area doing a good bit of heavy pushing I'd go with the 700. I've only ran a 700j once while building a pond and it was a pushing SOB. But, I'm more partial to the 650j myself. I do most of my work in the woods so it helps me have the...

    seat belts on dozer

When I was still a kid, not that I'm not now, I got thrown out of a case 850G. I was about 18yrs old at the time and had only been running dozers about 2 years. I was working on clearing a clear cut where the land owner wanted to build a pond. Long story short I had a ledge cave off and I...

    D-5

I maybe wrong but I'm with takeem, I'd start at the fuel system just to be sure. The one I was running would do the same thing when it first started. It would hold its rpms but would just slow down and speed back up, then it eventually got worse.

    D-5

When you say surge back and forth you mean like a power surge? I was running a D5G a while back and it would do the same thing. It would be fine pushing a good load then it would all of a sudden back down on the power for a few seconds. I would stop and start again and like you said it would...

    Towing a small Dozer

Scrub, thanks for posting man, There are a few guys that do that around here, but they are running D6's and 750k John deeres, so they have to use a low boy to move it anyways. If I end up having to get a truck and low boy ill haul my work truck with the machine from job to job as well.

    Towing a small Dozer

Thanks Td25c, I honestly never thought I would have a cat, I've always ran John Deere and that's what Ive always wanted until I got to running a D5k2, changed my mind completely, very smooth machine. I had thought about a dump truck and trailer but then I'm still gonna have to get some kind...

    Towing a small Dozer

I've seen a few guys around here tow dozers with 3/4 ton trucks but never have had the chance to speak to them and actually ask how its working out for them, as many years of experience yall have I knew it would take long to get some info. I looked at a couple of trucks online today and have...

    Towing a small Dozer

Catmech, I had actually thought about one of those but if I buy another truck I want to be able to use it as a daily driver back and forth to the job and not just just for pulling the dozer. Another truck I had thought about is something like a Chevy C8500 flat bed. Wouldn't be to much of a job...

    Towing a small Dozer

Haha the legalities is what bothers me. Ten years ago when I was still in high school we would haul 2 case 850G dozers with rakes on a 40ft gooseneck behind a 1 ton all the time. I never worried about that legal stuff, didn't have to,I just did what the boss told me and if he said it was good to...

    Towing a small Dozer

Hi guys, looking at purchasing a 25000lb trailer so I can move a small Dozer instead of having to keep contracting a rig to move it from job to job. My question is will I have enough truck to move it or will I have to purchase another truck as well. Right now I have a 2012 Chevy 2500HD ( 3/4...
