There's no making me happy - this has nothing to do with machinery.

Welcome to the grumpy old guys club. I'm 60 and it isn't getting better, only worse every day. Also, you do know how to tell when a salesman is lying? When his lips are moving...

I don't know anything about bulldozers

Looks like an old Caterpillar? Maybe a D4? I would get on the antique caterpillar machinery owners club web and maybe find someone that would be close to your location and maybe interested in it. I was a member of that club a number of years ago and found many guys very helpful. acmoc.org...

If im understanding your scenario correctly it's still dying after it warms up? I would try a new coil, Iv had some coils work when cool but then warm up and fail.

What is the best way for a 6 ton mini excavator to cross a brand new subdivision sidewalk without touching it?

Old tires laid as a path should do the trick? Shold be plenty of them laying around...

    CB channel 9

I have been wondering for some time now what is considered the normal use road communication. Way back in the day (70's and 80's) the CB was king. I can remember everyone had one at home and in the truck. Channel 9 was considered the "HELP me now" channel. I even have a CB setting on my shelf in...

Wisconsin VH4D STARTS. RUNS, STALLS, STARTS, RUNS, STALLS

I had a old Bobcat years ago with the similar V4 Wisconsin engine. It would do the same as what you are describing. I found that as the engine warmed up the plate inside the distributor where the points are mounted to would find a way to ground out. I removed that plate and ground off a good...

In need of Start Up Procedure for a D6 Dozer. Thank You.

Check YouTube. I see a number of videos that may help. Also maybe ask around your location if anyone else has experience with one? I would be best to have someone there that knows how to do it and show you in person.

    Portable fan for service truck

If you are talking about a fan running on 110 volt I use a old squirrel cage fan out of a old heating furnace. That old fan is quiet and it will push more air than any other option.

    Teach them early:

Yeah, I totally agree we do need to keep safety in mind. Like JBrady said "Things can go wrong really fast". I was brought up on a farm and also worked for some of the other local farmers. I had my butt in a tractor seat as soon as my feet could reach the pedals. Only around 11 years old I...

considerations: in agriculture, which is better a crawler tractor or a crawler bulldozer?

As a kid growing up in a rural farm community, everyone farmed with conventional rubber tire tractors. Except for one guy, my great uncle. He would ONLY ever own or use a crawler. His theory was a rubber tire tractor would work most of the time but occasionally get stuck in the mud and also you...

Off road diesel set up for my skid steer

As stated above, keep in mind how much you use in a give amount of time. I used a 55 gal drum with hand pump for my farm storage for a few years. Over time I stated to have issues with my fuel. Turns out that I wasn't using enough over time to keep it fresh even with treatment. I now find that a...

    773 bobcat lift pedal stuck

I would assume the mecanical linkage to the control valve is bound up in a jam. You should be able to raise the cab and take a look at the linkage. Maybe as easy as a whack with a hammer and you may be back in business? Or maybe the valve itself is bound up? Let us know what you find.

Caterpillar D4H Hard Starting, Limited Run Time

Nige is totally correct. Out of dozens of pieces of Diesel equipment over the years, Iv had three units that gave me tank issues. One with rust in the bottom of the tank, one with algae, and one with a broken pickup tub. Always start at the tank...

    I'm hosed...

7 years on any battery is amazing. Especially in a Bobcat. My old Bobcat 630 would eat a battery every year.

Old deere 550 dozer sprocket question

I have a 550 about the same age. I had to replace the tensioner a few years ago and could not get the master link out of the track. Just as you said, I removed all the grease form the tensioner and then walked the track off to the side. Tricky but doable. Make sure you have the unit jacked up...

Welding repair - need some advice

I totally understand that you want to fix what you have. However, I would allso do the math on your time and material to fix that old unit. Maybe time to simply purchase a new unit???? You need to make sure your fire box is mild steel and not some form of Stainless. If its stainless then you...
