In the market for an upgrade D65PX-15, D6R or Derre 850j??????????

Thanks for the info Construct'O. Sounds like we do alot of the same type of work. Most of the wet work is in river bottoms and we clean alot of ponds etc. I have an XL machine now which works well except in the wet conditions and the narrower blade. I'm definitely going with an XW or LGP machine...

In the market for an upgrade D65PX-15, D6R or Derre 850j??????????

We do quite a bit of wet work annually which as why I am looking at the LGP. An XW machine is a viable option but it seems everyone else thinks the same way. XW machines move fast. I have run all three manufactures and honestly I don't see much difference in operation. All of my maintenance...

In the market for an upgrade D65PX-15, D6R or Derre 850j??????????

Hey guys, It's been awhile since I have posted and I'm currently working with my local dealers on upgrading my dozer. Currently I am looking at a K D65PX-15EO, a D6R and an 850J.........all LGP. Basically I am needing more production than I am getting from my D6M. What are your...

Driving a just purchased truck across state lines?

It is the same as seeing new trucks being delivered to dealerships. One is towing two more, all three are new and nothing lettered, etc. As far as weight stations go, it's your call. You could go around them, drive right past them(not recommended) or stop at them. All 50 states are concurrent on...

Driving a just purchased truck across state lines?

Just because you own a commercial vehicle does not mean that it is applicable to all USDOT regulations. If he purchases the vehicle and drives it to his home state he does not need a DOT sticker on it. The vehicle is in transit, not for hire and not being used for commerce. As soon as you put a...

Rockwell 9 speed to 13 speed conversion???????????????????

I have a 97 Pete with a C-12 and a 9 speed. It is a dog, dog, dog. Would there be any value added converting the transmission to a 13 speed. I have heard of this done but is it a waste? All of my hauling is local but it's heavy and alot of hills.

    IDigbest System?

Has anyone heard of the IDigBest system by Excavating Solutions? Below is the link. It seems like a pretty neat system and the price looks right but I haven't heard of it before. http://excavatingsolutions.com/idigbest.htm

    Hydraulic rod repair

When you take it to the Hydraulic shop, ask if they can have it re-cromed. If it is not pitted or scored too bad this is a much cheaper option.

    Kenworth W900 or T800

Personally I would stay away from the C-12 if it has a 9 or 10 spd tranny behind it. It's under-powered in the upper gears if you are hauling heavy or uphill.

Adding hydraulic oil to 315 CL

Check the swing drive oil and final drive oil levels as well. Try to get a little oil out of the final drives and make sure it isn't milky. If it has been in water or soupy mud you can get a little water in them. If you bought the machine from a dealer and it was serviceed before you bought it...

    what excavator should I buy?

I own a 320D and we do alot of land clearing. I have a rigid thumb because the machine was used when I bought it and I wasn't going to pay 10K to have it plumbed etc. In my opinion there is no better way to pluck, move and pile trees other than a hoe. As far as ponds go the only thing we use the...

Hauling an Excavator behind a dump truck

Illinois DOT overweight permits allow up to 110K gross so I am not worried about being overweight. I am at 83K with my Pete and non-detach lowboy now so I run an annual overweight/overwidth. Most tags are 34" tall and my hoe is 9'9" folded up so I would still be under 13' 6" on height. My...

    d6m and fingertip controls

I own a D6M and run it every week. As far as the fingertip controls, in my opinion they are like lever steer, diff. steer and the old lever/brake steer. It just takes time to get use to it. the 6M has a mechanical engine but an electronic transmission. It's nice having the mechanical engine as...

Hauling an Excavator behind a dump truck

Is there any reason (legal/common sense) why you cannot haul a 50K class excavator behind a tandem dump? I have seen numerous Tag trailers that are 25-35 ton and with an overweight/overwidth permit you would be legal as far as I can tell. I have never seen this configuration in my area. Any...
