    Just preference?

Considering resale value, and smaller up-front cost, i'd recommend a pull pan scraper. You can split up the scraper from the tractor unit for selling each unit separately for more versatility. With the motor scraper, it is a one-trick pony that depreciates fast.

    657 Fuel Usage

Old motor scrapers have 4 tyres that bear the weight of the load and all follow in the same path, causing haul roads to pump out with bumps. The ADT/moxy truck & scraper combination spreads out the weight of the load, and the row of 4 tyres on the scraper bear the majority of the weight of the...

    657 Fuel Usage

Given the escalating fuel prices these days, its becoming more and more of a no-brainer to move away from these traditional twin engine scrapers, and go with a fleet of pull-pan scrapers pulled behind ADT's. Using 1 engine at 18GPH with the same material capacity, instead of the 26+GPH listed...

    Prime dirt pans

Sorry to hear that. It's a shame that there's so many of these mom and pop scraper startups that seem to come and go with the wind. Something to say for going with a well-known, reputable manufacturer so consumables and service is always available.

    Are Graders Obsolete?

Pull-Grader Land Levelers can have GPS Attached, so contractors can get away with using lower-skilled/lower-paid for smoothing out haul roads and blading the final grade with a less expensive ag tractor for earthworks projects. I think Motor Graders will always have their place, however, as you...

Good old Iron versus new stuff

Its interesting that the scraper manufacturer has an earthmoving division too. Would seem tricky to sell scrapers to customers who you are bidding against for earthmoving projects.

Good old Iron versus new stuff

For the training factor, I see advantages in using Articulated Dump Trucks pulling pull-pan Scrapers as an advantage over K Series scrapers. Can use the same Artic Drivers and in their same comfortable cab, and convert them into scraper operators.

Looks like that scraper has a roller block on the tail too during that same clip you mentioned. Smooth!

    Best Pusher Dozers

I've heard that in Texas, Romco dealerships are good with analyzing jobsite performance when it relates to earthmoving-may be worth giving them a call.
