    Thoughts on this Case 580C

Blake Sorry it took so long to respond. I did pass on this hoe. My job situation is a bit shakey at the moment so I didn't want to make the investment plus I took into consideration the responses here. Thanks everyone. I'm so glad Al Gore invented the internet:) I did find out that a...

    Thoughts on this Case 580C

Didn't the K's have electrical problems. I recall reading that on here somewhere. This same guy has a couple of E's for around $13.5K

    Thoughts on this Case 580C

Take a look at this pic. There is a rod hanging that the guy said went into the bracket just behind with some kind of switch. Can't remember what it was supposed to do.

I believe there was a brake pedal for each wheel. The pedals went (from left to right) Clutch, Left Brake, Right Brake, Gas. There was also a lever on the steering column to shift from forward to reverse. I didn't have to use the clutch unless changing gears - there were 4. Does that help...

    Thoughts on this Case 580C

The bucket is 2 foot. I didn't do much more than dig / drive around for about 45 minutes. I didn't even think of checking the oil:o . I didn't notice any weld but I wasn't looking for it either. Of course I have more pictures.

It seemed to dig and push fine. I filled the front loader by powering into a large pile of crushed concrete. I also tried all 4 of the gears and the clutch seemed good.

    Thoughts on this Case 580C

So I'm looking at this 580C now, not sure of the year. It apparently was a one owner machine and the guy died and his wife has it on consignment at an heavy equipment seller. I got to use it for about 45 minutes and there are a few things wrong with it. The meter shows 3200 hours but is not...

Looking at first backhoe - Case 580B CK

Well the guy never returned my call when I called to confirm our meeting to test it out. So I've given up on this one. I have in the mean time looked at a few more and found another that I'm interested in. It's a 580C (unsure of the year). I will start a new thread and describe it. Opinions...

Looking at first backhoe - Case 580B CK

WOW, Thanks for the info Phil! I'll try to see if I can tell the difference. It does say shuttle on the dash but not sure if that tells me anything. I'm going to bring this post with me Half door? Do you mean it should pick up the machine by 'boom lower' only? The guy says...

Looking at first backhoe - Case 580B CK

The only reason why I asked about the transmission was that there are two models listed on the Case parts website. This is how they are described: 580B CASE CONSTRUCTION KING TRACTOR W/SHUTTLE TRANSMISSION or 580B CASE CONSTRUCTION KING WHEEL TRACTOR W/HYDROSTATIC TRANSMISSION I'm going...

Looking at first backhoe - Case 580B CK

Hi Everyone! I'm looking for a 'budget' backhoe for some land improvement in preparation for building a house. This will include moving some fill around, digging up stumps, etc - perhaps more fun than work. I'm handy with tools and work on my own vehicles but never worked on heavy equipment or...
