    Help! Need Dozer Security

Just a suggestion but I would invest in a pretty good trail camera and if I had to leave the dozer in an area where I thought this might happen hide the camera watching the dozer and you will have pictures of the person messing with your equipment. Just like with trespassers they can't lie out...

    New Undercarriage

Thanks for the information QuickTrax, you never know sometimes saving a few bucks costs you a lot more in the end. I am glad to know that I can go with the other undercarriage. I would hate to have to pay for the Deere name.

    New Undercarriage

I am about ready to bite the bullet for a new undercarriage for my 550 dozer, was wanting some advice on going with all John Deere parts or parts from Heavyquip that are aftermarket parts. The Deere parts will cost around 3 times as much as the aftermarket parts but will they last as long? Just...

    Pin & Bushing turn

Thanks for the information on the undercarriage, I was confused by all the information from the guys that come out and check if for you. Most don't even measure anything they just bend over and take a little look and say you need to have them turned. But they were telling me that 900 hours ago...

    Pin & Bushing turn

I have a 550H Deere dozer that has around 1900 hrs. How many hours should I get on the pins and bushings after having them turned? I have been told they won't last long after the turn because they are hard to get sealed back correctly to keep the oil in them.

    JD 550's?? Where are they?

I bought one last year and have put around 700 hrs.on it and love it. It does anything I would want or have need to do with a dozer. I have had no trouble with it so far.

    Track question

I would think unless you have something frozen up it would hurt because the oil or grease will attrack and hold the dirt and grit and cause more wear on the parts.

    Sales tax

I always hear stories about how folks are sticken it to the MAN. I must be the one they get even on cause looks like the MAN is always sticken it to me. They have raised our property taxes the last four years, mine have more than tripled, they have built 3 new schools and now they are broke and...

    Sales tax

I tried to do that in Mississippi Alvin Tim. But the nice lady at the tax office told me unless I used it to pull a plow or disk all the time that I could not do that. I would have thought a farmer buying a dozer to clear off his own land and make improvements to it would not be like buying it...

    Sales tax

That sounds like my kind of advice, I can do simple reel good. I just didn't want to do the job and get stuck later having to pay the state tax on it out of my pocket. Thanks for all the suggestions.

    Sales tax

Thanks for the suggestions, I need to get my taxes finished and get them to my tax man and I will ask him. Don't think I will ask the tax folks because we still have bad feelings about me having to pay 7% sales tax on the used dozer I bought in 07.

    Sales tax

This might be a stupid question and if it is I am sure somebody on here will let me know about it, but here it is. I am not is the dozer business for a living but have a friend who wants me to dig him a pond. The question is do I have to charge and pay sales tax on doing a job like this in...

    Hauling dozer

The worst drawback I can see Turbo with a setup like this is the dozer setting up kinda high. But other than that I think it would do just fine with what I am wanting to do with it. I am not going to be going far from home just moving it around the county. But it might end up driving and...

    Hauling dozer

Still looking for something to haul my dozer on. I looked at an auction Friday and they had a 1999 International forestry truck. It was a 4900 DT 466E with a dozer bed and hyd. ramps. This truck had a dual axle rear end and they said they had been hauling a 550 dozer on it. Do yall think a setup...

    Hauling dozer

I didn't mean to ask a stupid question, just wanted advice from someone who had more experience in hauling equipment. I know there could be several ways to haul it, I just thought some setups might work better and be cheaper that others. I know that I could buy a large truck and a 50 ton lowboy...

    Hauling dozer

What would be the best setup to haul a 550JD dozer. The weight of the dozer is around 18500 lbs. I can move it now with a one ton truck and trailer but I don't go far from the house. I am starting to need to move it longer distances and more often and would like a bigger setup, but don't want...

    Digging a pond:

Dirtman if a dozer is all you have to work with, how wide and deep of a core would you need for a small pond, say about a 1/2 acre or so. Bandit44
