Okay how do I do this one?

Oh, and as a side note, if there is a 24" man way in the bottom, and the tank is 10' across, they can use tube scaffolding, as long as they have qualified scaffold erectors. If the only man way is the top, well then it would be a lot harder...

Okay how do I do this one?

Tell them they are going to have to lay the tank down... If they don't actually have to do it, the look on their face will be priceless!

Okay how do I do this one?

If there is any access to inside of the tower, scaffold up the inside, to the 65' height.

    Tower Cranes!!!

Good grief Gostr8r... If it isn't my eyes playing tricks on me, I am sure glad that wasn't on my hook... Don't riggers ever test lift and then check their loads? I know silly question but WOW... Sure happy it didn't go bad!

need to cut 7/8 inch steel cable which is EZ way to do it.

I ran a pile driver for a while,(something that I don't normally admit to) so I have cut a few cables... Have probably used every one of these ideas depending on the circumstance, but never even thought of using hose clamps. That would work slick as snot on a door knob in spots where the clamp...

B.S. baffles brains.... Unless they actually are as smart as they think they are... Eventually if you B.S. for long enough, you better be good at making them think you were just seeing if they knew what they were talking about. Although it is getting harder to find the ones that are as smart as...

    Need help with Stinger II

Quite often the pump has a section just for the winch. If the hoses are the same size, could try putting the hose from the other section of the pump onto the winch section of the valve, that will tell you if it is valve, and/or pressure relief, or pump. You might also want to try running a hose...

Needing some objective advice on small crane

A Zoom boom might be another option, depending on what you are doing. It can do many of the things you are talking about, and is more portable, plus training is more available. I am seeing them used by more and more residential contractors, and even seeing them being used in the petroleum...

    Liebherr crane

Oh, the only other thing that might be a pain, is that the outrigger feet stay on the legs, but have to be pulled out from travel position to operating position, and each leg has to have 2 pins moved everytime you set up or tear out. Also, one might want to custom build a place to put outrigger...

    Liebherr crane

The company I used to work for has 1. Really nice unit, and it is nice to move around. I haven't run it, but I have helped set it up. I think it actually has a fairly narrow outrigger stance, about 20' if I remember right. The only thing might be getting permits during the spring time if you...

    Customer Service

May I add, that I really enjoy being here and learning from the people on here who enjoy the job, and passing on to the others here their skills, experiences and their attitude. It makes me a better operator to draw on this wealth of experience. Oh, and I am stealing the knee pads comment...and...

    Customer Service

This is a great topic, and even if most of us work for big companies, this stepping into the gap between the customer and our company is what keeps our company "the service provider of choice". And also it looks good for us when the companies talk to our foreman and ask for us to be on the next...

    What do you guys think?

Yeah, the 445's on the front are around $700 to $800 Canadian, and the drive tires are probably $500 to $600 apiece... So probably up to $12000 in tires. Glad I don't have to buy them, lol!

    What do you guys think?

There are at least 2 1045's out here working, and I heard there is a new one for sale still. Axani's didn't have much for problems with theirs, accept for one of the taillights, and a few little things. I think that the 1060 put on a tandem steer, tri-drive would be a fantastic setup... Liebherr...

    Problems w/ Grove 700E

Good to hear that you solved your issue. Fuel filters seems to be the most common issue with power loss on a diesel motor, and if it isn't the filters, then at least pulling the filters is cheap, and will tell you if you are getting fuel as far as the filters. Thanks for the update!

Going to 3rd year crane school in Ft McMurray...

I am on my last year of my crane ticket, after running boom trucks for 15 years, and ended up having to go to do my last period of schooling at Keyano College in Ft Mac, Ab. I talked briefly to 1 person who really liked the school and the instructors, but has anyone else out there had any...

A company I used to work for, Axani brothers, has a 1045 out of cold lake, alberta. It is a tandem tandem.

    taking out boom cylinder

Our mechanic just did the boom telescope cylinder in a grove rt530 in our yard, and I did the crane work for him to put it back together. The grove mechanics told him to make sure that you mark every Last bolt and nut, to make sure that it goes back together the same as it come apart. They even...
