Recommended width for a front dozer blade on a 12H?

17.5's will put you around 2700mm which to be legal on road requires reflective oversize signs / banners as well as beacons. I have even seen some with flags as well. You may need a permit as well as your rego depending on what type of road you want to work/ travel on. Might make a 2500 blade...

    Case 621B won't move

Check under the rubber boot of your bucket control lever. Sometimes the wires for the trans kickdown can short on the bucket kickout magnets.

    2-71 Detroit will not start.

By the way , I have seen two Jap truck engines (both Hino now that I think about it ) run backwards for a few seconds . Both heavily loaded / stalled and run back down steep inclines. White smoke comes from just about everywhere it seems but I guess it's mostly intake system . Both switched off...

    2-71 Detroit will not start.

The talk earlier about air start GM's reminded me of a time when the mine I was working at was looking at replacing the Cummins 1710's in the Euclid R 85's they ran as a way of getting a bit more speed / grunt out of them. They shoehorned a V 12 GM ( I think I am remembering silver series 92...

Hello all! New Here. Anyone recently switch from an H to an M?

I have done that steering thing a couple of times by accident .Didn't realise it was an actual procedure. I have around 3000 hrs on 12m now and had to run a 12h yesterday while mine was in for service. Man I was all over the place. I really like that m .

    Coolant stop-leak

That's the secret. Give it a go as per the directions on the bottle /packet. If it doesn't work, you are better off fixing it properly however much it hurts rather than thinking a few more bottles/ pills/ eggs might work. That's when the trouble starts.

Continuous water in fuel for Bobcat T190

Had a T.C.M loader do this. It had a plastic tube on the fuel tank breather that drooped down so that the end lay in water in the frame. When the machine cooled down at the end of the day it would suck water up the tube and into the tank. It took about a year of headscratching to work this out...

    Electrical Question ...

Cajun, My understanding of a charging circuit goes like this. Power goes from the "ON" terminal of your ignition switch and then through the charge indicator light to small terminal of the alternator. When the alternator is not turning this is effectively a ground so that when you turn the key...

i want to to start/finish my apprenticeship get a welding ticket or 2 and go rogue putting machinery back together where its falls with maybe a part time job in the pilots chair digging the odd hole or two I like your attitude and I wish you well. Most young fellas in my neck of the woods...

australian machinery licensing questions and queries

Don't forget forklift , although your employer may help with that one. There's nothing worse than having to count on someone else to drive a forkllift when you need one.

australian machinery licensing questions and queries

Mate, this has always been a "grey" area. As a fitter, the legislation says that you can operate a machine without a ticket if you are loading or unloading before or after repair or to move in or out of a repair facility. You can also operate a machine for testing purposes before or after repair...

    Tighten wheel lug nuts

This is good advice. We always just hit them with a 3/4 gun or bar and pipe and never thought any more about it. Until one operator changed a flat and a week later a wheel passed him going down a hill. Of course it wasn't long before the safety gurus decided that from now on ALL wheel nuts WILL...

Hino FD - B Adjust Light

Nick, This warning signals excessive travel in either the front or rear brake master cylinder. There is a simple push switch screwed into the spring end of each air over hydraulic cylinder. If you have no fluid leaks and brakes are adjusted it will be either a faulty switch or internal...

    Maintainance issues.

more focus on speed of assembly That's the answer mancavedweller. Sometimes when I am at the point of throwing something in frustration I sit down and have a smoke and have a think about why someone would assemble something like that and that is what I usually come up with.

    Judder when under load

Oldlag, I have never even laid eyes on a Takeuchi machine but the symptoms you describe on our low hour Komatsu backhoe turned out to be a sticking swash plate in the main hydraulic pump. Komatsu replaced it on warranty. Maybe worth checking out.

    Scrub Pulling Story ?

The collective knowledge of this forum's members knows no bounds and my faith in the old bloke is restored. They reckon these big fires can create all sorts of wierd air currents and mini tornadoes that can lift up a burning log and explode it in mid-air. There must be hundreds of interesting...

    Scrub Pulling Story ?

An old dozer operator (now passed) not known for telling tall stories, once told me a yarn over smoko. I have recently tried to research this but can find no mention. The story goes: Back in the day (possibly 50's or 60's) "They" (Possibly the government) decided to attemt to simulate a nuclear...

    Thumbs in australia

I recently saw an excavator with a fixed "thumb" loading large stumps with root balls. The operator would dig them out and lay them over and then attach the arm with two heavy pins (only took a minute) to load . Seemed to work well.
