Checking Fluid Level in Dozer Power Shift Transmission

Just a point of interest both your tracks are on backwards, turn them round or u will chew out ur sprockets and bushes real quick, the grouser bar should be at the back of the shoe when its on the ground. Cheers RDG.

    HD-31 Pushing Snow

I do remember seeing a JD sales brochure on some of their smaller dozers where they pointed out that to get a smooth finish dozer in their smalleer lines the bottom rollers were spaced at different spacings so that they were never all on top of the pin/bush at the same time, which makes sense...

    Snow and the TD25

Yeah! no snow down here comming into winter glad to see the temp go down, next couple of months are usually the best, not much rain temps in the hi teens to lo 20s, good to get away from the 30s and 90% humidity that we get in the summer, u dont have to be doin anything and u still get a sweat...

    Snow and the TD25

Yeah, that two speed steering system is out on its own, I spent a fair bit of time on 25B/Cs and 20 E and loved that system Dressta still have it on most of there machines today. Like u say was real handy getting out of sticky situations. Cheers RDG.

New Driveway over Grass? (not sure where to post this)

I would do what the customer wants after all he is paying for it cause the customer is always right LoL. the grass will eventually grow thru but then sometimes that helps hold the metal in place and stops it getting spread around and if its only light traffic it will probably be good enough...

    hough loader info

If its got IH stamped on the engine block I would say its probably a DT 817 engine, same as in the TD 25B/Cs other than that never had much to do with them.Cheers RDG.

    Komatsu question

Real good in confined spaces, some of the smaller excavators with zero swing also are able to off set the boom so u can dig along side buildings/walls etc and be digging hard up against it and still be able to slew as the counter weight is no wider than the track width when slewed around. Cheers...

    System one UC

From what Ive read about it it is supposed to all wear out together, has rotating bushes so they never need turning, idlers run on the bushes so they dont hollow out the rails etc. Think its only available in the smaller machines D6 and under, not made for severe impact conditions that larger...

    Pond pictures from this summer

Just looking at the pipes sitting on blocks, how do you compact the material under the pipe, or is it filled with concrete? also noticed the bucket on while lifting pipes, they would shoot u for that over here. Cheers RDG.

    Historic NZ Earthmoving Projects

I have a book called Servicing Caterpillar by a bloke called Ken Anderson who was a GGH service man in Taumarunui back in those days, 200 pages of pics and info from down around Tongariro/ Taumarunui. It has lots of info on machines s/ns and who bought them + some of the names of staff at GGH...

    Komatsu d39px -22 undercarriage

1400 hrs is not much but have seen a D65 px 12 chew thru a set of SALT pins/bushes in 1500hrs in very wet mud/ sand and water and an operator who did a lot of backblading in 2 rev, so it depends a lot on the conditions u work in, width of grouser plate and speed u travel at, I guess 1500 hrs in...

    Surface miners

I think there is an Iron ore mine over in Western Oz that does all its mining with them, think some of the advantages are no drilling/blasting,face shovels/loaders crushing plants or large dump trucks. The surface miner cuts the material of the floor in a managable size and loads it straight on...
