    Shredded turntable gear

They aren't that hard to work on... really :) but if you go to a shop labor can easily be more than double what the parts will be and they'll mark up the parts unless you do the legwork and find all the parts ;) If the main ring gear is damaged too much it may need to be replaced also... on a...

    Shredded turntable gear

Paint brush with long bristles and some solvent works good for spot cleaning. Also could be bad bearings in the swing motor gearbox... or main ring gear loose... hard to tell without getting in there and prying while someone else pushes the boom back n forth.... but.... since you mentioned it's...

    Shredded turntable gear

Without a pic showing the gars (without) all the grease and crud on them it's hard to tell what's going on???? is the motor/gearbox fastened securely to the machine? because if it broke loose you may get away without new gears....

A few projects I have done recently

We try to use recycle concrete when ever we can: it's cheaper, it usually packs great!!! (1-1/2minus) or something like that, it does vary as to the composition and texture sometimes there lots of red brick in it ;) , there is usually a good amount of plastic bits here and there depending on...

    Bucket and hydraulic thumb coordination

All modern(and most older) factory thumbs will have overpressure reliefs built in, it's usually when someone added a thumb to a machine and just used an existing AUX valve or similar that they didn't bother to install/convert correctly that you run into trouble.

Why are Bobcat Mini and Midi Excavators cheaper than Deere or Cat?

I've used bcat, deere, cat, case and kommie's... yeah bcat's are lacking compared to case and kommie... cat... well some of that extra$$$ is the name but better support than bcat for sure :) at least around here.

A few projects I have done recently

Well..... I might be able to license the idea to you.... ;) I remember the first time I had the idea...tried using cardboard - that lasted all of 10 minutes before it was ripped, falling off and worthless. Any kind of semi-flexible tough material should work as long as rebar doesn't hook into...

A few projects I have done recently

I found a pic on my computer :) we were breaking the main entrance slab to the offices on a warehouse 6' X 30' or so.... 6inch slab whith rebar and a thickened edge near the curb for the last foot and a half that I had to hand break to get depth for the repour. This was just a pretty thick...

A few projects I have done recently

Yeah, I remember talking about it in a thread once before and I think I even put up some pics.... but couldn't remember what thread it was in??? otherwise I would have linked it in the previous post. :)

A few projects I have done recently

A few times when I was worried about shrapnel rock hitting nearby windowfronts in buildings I wrapped a thick rug around the hammer extending a couple inches below the moil.. just wrapped it around, put a cargo strap around the upper end of the rug an ratcheted it tight :) The only downside I...

    Falling Scrap Iron prices

i know what you mean... I keep saying that about one of my 2U's... and maybe a few other things... although I think I'll hold out for at least 200/tn...

    "Bucket teeth plate"

Yep, I know ;) It's just hard to get around my 'programming' to make something harder to break the next time... so then they break the next link in the chain.. ;)

    "Bucket teeth plate"

Well... bad news.. got back to the shop today and was told my plate for the 60 24inch bucket broke :( all the guy was doing was digging some post holes... It's bent up almost an inch too so I'm guessing after it broke he didn't want to pull it off and was doing some good backpushing... so I'll...

    Would you hire this guy...

We've had guys on jobs that thought they were farmers and would keep plucking those 'carrot stakes' out no matter how fast we'd plant more... ;)

    Would you hire this guy...

For flat or in plane lots we'll stake it out with hubs but for stuff like this front yard I did a few days ago it's just a freehand/feel kind of job...

    Sooooo... How's everyone's quarantine going?

Yep.... that's why whenever people start talking up a guy with money as a 'great person to work for'.... I always chime in with a "well you don't think they got all their money by giving it to other people do ya'? "

    Would you hire this guy...

Just going by what the equipment representative said about their operator... :) On any job we have subbed at we would be asked to leave the job if any safety guys saw one of our operators running like that.... that's just how it works in the real world ;)

Case 350 Crawler kicking my butt

Yep, if it is 'trying' to go but not quite and is giving small puffs it more than likely still has air bubbles in the system between the IP and injectors. Of course this doesn't rule out issues with the IP... any issues whether it be air intrusion, pump issues, crank speed, cylinder pressure...

This ones going to leave a mark

Authorized Supplier...LOL that's a good one ;) even sounds official :) I just picked up a battery, brake fluid and some anti-freeze from an authorized supplier a few minutes ago.... still have to find a brake cable from a different authorized supplier... and after that I need to get on the...
