sand and gravel pit dragline excavator or dredge

The big question would be what is the market for the materials you could produce with just a screen deck. We dig concrete agg out of a pond, screen out anything over 7/8 inch. That material runs to a jaw, then a 3 deck screen and additional cones setup to run 3/4 minus. The original screened...

    Help figuring Cyd pricing

So your average stripping depth is .93', the excess will have to be hauled away. 9100 Cyd, 758 12 yard trucks worth of topsoil and strippings pricing for this should be separate. Cut to fill price should be separated out since this operation would be a one or two machine operation with the D6...

    Elevation Calculations

I've worked hard with my guys on using elevations with a Lenker rod. It cuts down on the mistakes by taking all the math out of it as the guys just have to match the number on the plans with the number on the rod. They do cost a little bit, but if taken care of they last and the time saved pays off.

Milled asphalt for road surfacing material

Ask if they are screened or straight from the grinder into a pile and then sold to you. We screen all of our grindings and for driveways and parking lots place them with a paver. This has lead to almost no raveling because of coarse areas. Most asphalt suppliers should be screening their...

If its a half hour cycle they will be done in 8 hours. Follow behind with the dozer as they cut to clean it up. Second day haul in...

    Sonic tracer

I've ran sonic trackers on string before and it works great. The curb companies around here all use bailing string and its plenty thick enough for the sensors to read. The method I prefer is to take a string holder from the pin and clamp it to end of the moldboard. Then tape a whisker at 90 to...

GPS System/ Machine Control/ Modeling Software

Our company just jumped in to the GPS world recently. We are in the road construction side of things. Two years ago Topcon GR-3's were purchased used with a data collector and topsurv software independently of a dealer for the simple task of locating 700 utilities on a city paving project. Went...

Also just started on an airport project as well with the +/- 2% moisture spec and ran into the same subgrade issues. We question the engineer about a soils report before bid date and none had been done. the typical build was .75ft of P-209 in the shoulders and .25ft HMA, there are also areas of...
