    I spent my lunch money

With that snazzy liner in there, I'll be willing to bet that you don't haul any gravel. Still, that's a nice trailer.

No permit means angry firemen haha

Countryboy: Roger that. My property abuts the Chattahoochee National Forest, and I'm about 5 and a half miles, crowflight, from Springer Mountain, the southern terminus of the Appalachian Trail. (Road distance is about 11 miles to the trailhead, and a mile's hike to the end of the trail)...

No permit means angry firemen haha

With respect, Monrad, but there is no such thing as "no chance of spreading...". I get a chuckle out of that line, and I've heard a few really wild excuses for the fire spead coming from the "perfectly contained and managed little fire". A few that come to mind: "It was only a few...

No permit means angry firemen haha

Ditto what atgreene said. Nothing honks me off more that stopping my job to go to someone else's job, to put out the "little fire" that suddenly got away from them. It's one thing when the little fire's attended, and stays little, but so many guys start it, ignore it, and suddenly, it becomes...

Lonestar, not just a steakhouse anymore

The lines are interesting, but it's too dolled up with chrome for my tastes. Might look good if they toned down the chrome to black. :beatsme

Western Star 40 ton dump at conexpo.

Makes you lust for a really big sandbox in your back yard.

    Fuel Price By Location

Diesel today, at Walmart, was 3.83, and at Holts, the local place where most of the crews refuel, was 3.89. Holts's is one of the few places in town with Offroad Diesel, and willing to run a tab for the contractors, so I guess they make you pay up for the convenience. Ellijay, GA

    New CDL rules

Funny that you'd mention that, but the military started doing that well back in the late 70's. Not many clutches left in the fleet these days.

    PVC for air lines

Is schedule 80 PVC rated for that pressure? I've seen it done with schedule 40 before, and I've seen it rupture when it was bumped with some shifting metal. PVC makes for some wicked shrapnal. There must be something on the web somewhere that deals with this.

Just when you think you have seen it all...

The only thing they missed plugging in the ad was using this as a platform for ice fishing. Try to justify to the bride that you need this, just to pull the ice shack around the pond next winter.

    home equity line

Best bet is to consult your accountant. There's big differences in tax treatment for the various types of corporations, and for sole owners/partnerships. Maybe consider leasing, and write that off. Explore all your options. I work with a guy who upgrades his equipment every year...

    Deuce and 1/2

Roger what Surfer-Joe said. They will go where most trucks fear to tread, but the old split rims are DEADLY. We always aired up tires inside a cage, just in case. The old tactical tires were soft, and would shread when run at speed on pavement for any distance. Seriously, old dueces...

    Deuce and 1/2

Are you talking with the Duece and the pintle hitch? Probably - Bit of history--Gotta remember the Dueces and the five tons for that matter had a series of evolutions from the WWII days. WWII Dueces were 3 axle / 6 tired trucks in some cases. As the trucks improved, the military load...

    Who's trained.....

I just got back from taking a Technical Ropes Rescue class to add to all the other things I've gotten to do since I retired. Had a really good time with it, but it's slowly convincing me that I need to start letting the younger guys do the fun stuff. 54 year old knees don't need to get hauled...

    Looking For a Truckers Opinion.

Young One: You mentioned belonging to the guard. What MOS? I'd advise getting with your Platoon Daddy/First Shirt and ask/beg/demand to get a military license for everything in the motor pool. Most units have something to drive, many units have lots of things to drive, and there is...

    Fire Department pictures

Countryboy: Wish I had a pix of the duece and a half we recently got rid of - an old Korean era M-49C converted with the most god-awfully complicated pony pump I've ever seen. Still, it would climb a tree. Being in a combination department is interesting. The young fulltimers are are...
