CAT skid steer/track loader 2006 247B?? how good??

I have the same machine. Bought it back in 09 with 2200 hrs for $12,500. We have been building a cabin in northern MN and use it for everything. Check out the under carriage really well. I've had to replace tracks and some rollers. Actually getting ready to replace the rest later this summer...

    cat 236

Could still be water. On my 1845 the oil just sat on top of the water and never really mixed that much. I put the wand of my shop vac to the bottom of the case to empty them and the first 5 gallons was basically pure water. Only had about 2 gallons of oil to haul to recycling. Is your...

    Stuck in the Mud

Sometimes the tracked machines get stuck too. But hear's a great way to get them out. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TDjQOyVULUs https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MSBq4Fnpu5o Might be a little pricey though.

SR-70 Front left hub/wheel assembly falling off

Make certain you have the right washer and use a new lock nut. Also, be careful re-installing the track, it is very easy to damage the inner seal. Once the seal is damaged, the bearing will seize and there's nothing that will prevent it from un-screwing the nut or just simply tearing it off.

SR-70 Front left hub/wheel assembly falling off

When you say the hub is falling off, do you mean the entire hub, bearing and all? If so, you need to look at the bearings, lock nut and the washer. Something is causing the nut to un-screw. The left side is probably more prevalent because it un-screws the nut while driving forward. So, if the...

Cat 277c 2 speed ...need advice

Where did they have the ground connected for the welder? You may have had an arc in the wheel motor. Hopefully not. We build automated machinery for milk bottling plants and have trouble with bearings, cylinders and motors when maintenance staff don't connect the ground properly. Often times the...

    ether in Case 75xt?

A couple years back my Chevy Duramax gelled. I limped to a fuel station put in half a tank of fuel and a bunch of 911. Barely managed to make it 150 miles home. (Truck had no power and if I pushed it at all it would basically die and I would drop down to 20 mph) Once home I parked it in the...

Anyone using Bair Products undercarriage parts?

Actually I found that the Bairs are slightly more expensive. Who are you buying the parts from? I found that the ASV dealers were cheaper than CAT (same parts). I think this is the company I called; http://www.trackloaderparts.net/Caterpillar-2.aspx I think they're an ASV dealer in the...

Anyone using Bair Products undercarriage parts?

Be careful comparing the Bair rollers to a CTL's rollers. One is aluminum and the other is steel. When I bought new front and rear rollers for my 247B last year, the guy I spoke with (sells both types) said that if I drive in gravel/rock alot I should stick with the rubber rollers. Said he has...

    Rotary or Flail

My brother has 60 acres of hunting land that he wants to clean up. It has a lot of under brush and dead balsams. I figure we can saw the larger trees and pile them with a grapple and then mow everything less than 3". I own a Cat 247B that I purchased to build my lake cabin that I could easily...

More grief with my 1840 HELP!!!

You probably already thought of this, but how about air in the system? I think most hydraulic pumps, especially used ones don't create a whole lot of suction before they are fully primed.

    Undercarriage change while replacing track?

Check the clearance between the track drive lugs and the undercarriage rails. I have a 247B and I think that I read somewhere that if the rear rollers wear too far the drive lugs will contact the rail and tear off. Then you'll need to buy new rollers and a bunch of Bair Larry Lugs.

Plow Hydraulics , need flow restrictors

The ones we buy for work are nothing more than a standard hydraulic fitting with a hex socket type plug screwed into it. Then they drill a small hole into the center of the plug. We use them anywhere we have to worry about the end user increasing speeds to unsafe levels. If you go this route...

Have your ever had a skidloader rollover

I was running a long stick excavator digging a pond for my father and had my grandfather running my Case 1845 moving a couple sand piles for me. Everytime I looked he would be running around with the boom above the cab and the bucket full. I would stop get out and go yell at him and he would try...

Who uses a skid steer only at home?

Had/have a Case 1845B gas for over ten years. Great machine, but blew a rod bearing a year ago so I bought a Cat 247B. Just had to try a tracked machine and the price was right. Love the Cat but I am afraid of what the future may bring $$. I've already spent $1000 on new rollers. Still have the...
