CUT FILL PRODUCTIONS-I need some help from a seasoned earthwork guy

IMO your asking a very board question that has so many others factors that affect it. The biggest factors would be soil type and existing topography, I have some experience in Jersey and you have can solid rock to running sand. The soil type will determine the proper equipment to use which will...

Komatsu Intelligent Machine Control - user reviews

I have had experience with both the 51exi and 61pxi. IMO both great machines. The biggest issue I have had with the 51 at one point the controller or computer as you put it went bad at around 700hrs. I was told this is a very expensive part but it was replaced under warranty. The controller is...

Komatsy D51i VS Cat D6K VS JD 700

Curious about the same thing. We have one 61i machine and 3 61-15's. They are great grading dozers especially on 2:1 slopes, however we do trade them in around 6-7K hours as they just dont seem to age well. The undercarriages on the -15's have been dissappointing as well, supposedly they have...

    Komatsu PC650

It really comes down to what you are moving it with and the state you are moving it in. We can leagally move a D8R/T here in PA with a 4 axle tractor/3 axle trailer and our axle weights are ok. We were suppose to do some dirt work in OH and to leagally move a D8 in one piece it was going to take...

    Gold Rush D10

I'm pretty sure I saw what looked like a volvo grader (of course) at parkers site in the background a couple times. It was not running.

    D7e or d8t ?

Not sure if you considered the cost difference between undercarriage replacement. I'd be interested to see how much an LGP 8's undercarriage would be to replace. Last I remember a standard 8 was around 60K.

In The Market For GPS Rover And Base Station

Looking for everyones opinion. I'm in the market for a GPS rover and base station. I have no experience with GPS and am looking for some input. I have priced Trimble Topcon and AGL, in that order they are most expensive to cheapest with Trimble being almost twice as expensive as AGL. What are...

Looking for demo work along the Jersey shore prefer the southern end.

Again rumor has it its something like a 600 million dollar contract with a 6 month term. I know they are looking for subs right now as they do not have nearly enough people to do the work but there are a lot of idle contractors out there right now.

Looking for demo work along the Jersey shore prefer the southern end.

My suggestion would be to at least get your hazwoper cert. We're looking into getting some work from this clean-up however it is as usual not what you know but who you know. Rumor on the street is Conti got a large contract from fema to clean-up so if you know anyone from them it would help.

    Scraper advise

Who are you building pads for? We use dozer as well but thats because the gas companies want us too. I always thought scrapers would work the best in the right conditions.

Could you prove that you have operated excavators by one word or sentence?

This (Insert least favorite brand here) is a slow POS, a (Insert favorite brand here) would out dig it any day!!

How about a new forum of locating contractors outside your normal service territory?

I second this. It would definitely be beneficial for anyone that works outside their area. I have started working out of my normal area and it is not easy to find good quality subs.

I know the pads we build they require automated blade finish. Randy, what energy company are you working for?

    New equipment engines

We have a couple interim tier 4 cat dozers and they do not require DEF. They just regen the exhaust filter. On one of the D8's had the regen sensor and igniter go bad, cat was right out to fix it.

    Big excavator job in PA

I don't know what they would be using 850's for. They were using mostly 350's and 450's on the Tennessee 300 line. I have never seen a pipeline go through so fast it was impressive.
