CAT 931 POWERSHIFT ON DOWNHILL ENGAGEMENT? ALSO HAND THROTTLE T BAR ACCELERATES AND THEN LOSES REVS AND PASSES A NOTCH???

Hi Oz, CAT came to me as rebuilt by Heavy Equipment Manager so I would think he mostly knew what he was doing. Never the less it is a get to know the vehicle exercise. I am going to have a practice on my lower slopes once I get the new battery in this week. Have to be able to start the...

CAT 931 POWERSHIFT ON DOWNHILL ENGAGEMENT? ALSO HAND THROTTLE T BAR ACCELERATES AND THEN LOSES REVS AND PASSES A NOTCH???

HI, adjusted the RHS brake as it was near the floor and it operates far better. They do hold but I have to near break the back of the seat as I press with my foot on the centre pedal. I have the rippers to stop in an emergency, ie emergency brakes.

CAT 931 POWERSHIFT ON DOWNHILL ENGAGEMENT? ALSO HAND THROTTLE T BAR ACCELERATES AND THEN LOSES REVS AND PASSES A NOTCH???

Thanks Dave, I have smaller slopes at the lower reaches where I can practice the engagement processes etc. Having that detent where it goes from high revs to low revs at the end of the throttle engagement I should attend to though as going to low would then disengage the powershift? I once...

CAT 931 POWERSHIFT ON DOWNHILL ENGAGEMENT? ALSO HAND THROTTLE T BAR ACCELERATES AND THEN LOSES REVS AND PASSES A NOTCH???

Appreciated, it was free rolling in first gear and with autos on cars it depends on the Auto as to what it does. Some utilise the selection as an engine brake and others don't. I guess the Cat does not. I will get the battery (new) in this week coming and try it out on the lower slopes with...

CAT 931 POWERSHIFT ON DOWNHILL ENGAGEMENT? ALSO HAND THROTTLE T BAR ACCELERATES AND THEN LOSES REVS AND PASSES A NOTCH???

Evening from Australia, Thanks for reading. I recently purchased a 931 CAT refurbished. Subject of two other threads. I only got to use it up and down my inlcine once which is about 15-20 degrees and a couple of hundred meters up the hill. On engaging powershift in first...

MF3090 No Clutch Hydraulic Pressure or Disengage?

Hi, it was a very fine black dust and I would expect with the machine with nearly 11700hrs on it and although new fluid was put in the system was not flushed as it is supplied from the main transmission reservoir that goes through everything hydraulic on the machine. Could be brake dust, etc...

MF3090 No Clutch Hydraulic Pressure or Disengage?

Morning, back at tinkering. So opened up the supply port from the valve bank and was disappointed that there was only very fine sludge and no blockage ruling it out as a cause. However very little oil present? So I bled the valve assembly by running the motor and leaving the banjo loose and...

MF3090 No Clutch Hydraulic Pressure or Disengage?

NB I have had a look at the valve body and it powers the steering, brakes, clutch. The clutch take off banjo is at the lowest point of the valve body so if something were to fall/fail in the valve body it would fall to the lowest point and while it has not completely blocked the pressure...

MF3090 No Clutch Hydraulic Pressure or Disengage?

Thanks Dave, I don't have a manual so the valve block is a mystery to me. The supply side of the Master Cylinder comes from the valve block. I will have a look to see what else it serves tomorrow. Certainly the brake pedal seems to be higher than usual so maybe extra pressure there? But...

MF3090 No Clutch Hydraulic Pressure or Disengage?

I have run the motor and not run the motor and their is a pressure pulse when the clutch pedal is depressed from the bleed nipple with extra flow of oil. Clearly there is pressure in the system??? However having opened the inspection plate for the clutch assembly and the annular salve cylinder...

MF3090 No Clutch Hydraulic Pressure or Disengage?

Found the bleed nipple. Fluid is present after the Master Cylinder to the input to the slave cylinder and after at the pressure relief bleed nipple. So starting to lose possibilities as to what is wrong???

MF3090 No Clutch Hydraulic Pressure or Disengage?

Hi, on further looking at it and testing I clamped off the pipe running from the master cylinder to the slave cylinder and can get no pressure with new Master Cylinder. I have oil running out of the master cylinder connection on relieving tension on the hydraulic connector so there is oil in...

MF3090 No Clutch Hydraulic Pressure or Disengage?

Hi, just another day in paradise! Just spent a bit of time taking out the old Master Cylinder to find the seal hard and the cylinder certainly worn to one side with very mild scoring. I did this as a result of virtually total clutch fail. Since it has creeper gears I can actually move it...

NEW TO ME CAT 931B - WHICH OILS FOR TRANSMISSION, BEVEL GEARS, FINAL DRIVES, POWER SHIFT?

Yes, I acquired the CAT to re-establish one route on my property about 350meters and cut at lest three pads, one being for the shed which will house it and all my other tribe of machinery, etc. Should have built it more than 21 years ago but did not have the foresight. I hope to get that done...

NEW TO ME CAT 931B - WHICH OILS FOR TRANSMISSION, BEVEL GEARS, FINAL DRIVES, POWER SHIFT?

HI, all good then as they are the rear counterweights for sure. The ripper assembly came from a machine/parts supply company and was obviously sitting out in the weather although brand new as paint had faded but still warranted by the dealer. Looks fine in operation. Yes, the machine rolls in...

NEW TO ME CAT 931B - WHICH OILS FOR TRANSMISSION, BEVEL GEARS, FINAL DRIVES, POWER SHIFT?

Hi, I read the brake thing and then could not find it. I did a whole lot of unnecessary work lifting the wrong cover. Once I found the adjuster under a smaller cover I managed to get a 9/16 socket on a wobble bar and turn it Clockwise quite a few times to left the pedal up. Successfully as...

NEW TO ME CAT 931B - WHICH OILS FOR TRANSMISSION, BEVEL GEARS, FINAL DRIVES, POWER SHIFT?

Hi Oz, you are a prophet. I have invented Reverse Yoga or Limbo dancing for the Elderly after working in that compartment. I wrongly identified the humped domes as the location of the brake ports for adjustment so did a lot of panel removing only to discover the brake inspection/adjustment...

NEW TO ME CAT 931B - WHICH OILS FOR TRANSMISSION, BEVEL GEARS, FINAL DRIVES, POWER SHIFT?

Update, well not all that glitters id gold. RHS Brake was pretty much on the floor and took me a while to make my body bend enough to get to those cover plates for the brake adjustment and then get the right combination of socket bars to reach the 9/16 brake adjuster. However adjusted to spec...
