    John Deere 550G won't move

I wanted to follow up and let everyone know that I ended up changing the filter and transmission oil. No problems since then. Thank you for the help!

    Filter trick needed!

Thank you for all your thoughts! I don't see the filter cap sizes on the Amazon description. The filter is 5" diameter JD that is smooth at the bottom rather than fluted. I can only get one arm through the access hole under the dozer so I'm not sure if I could get a filter cap wrench to work...

    Filter trick needed!

Please give me any of your thoughts on the following: I am trying to replace the transmission filter on a John Deere 550G. I removed the old filter, which was not easy, and now may need to hire an Olympic gymnast midget with 3' arms to install the new filter. I have tried from the top of the...

    John Deere 550G won't move

Well, I was going to change the filter today, and also check the intake screen. Started the dozer for the heck of it first, and it worked fine again today. I'm glad it worked, but intermittent problems are sometimes harder to fix. I will replace the filter next time the pedals don't release...

    John Deere 550G won't move

Stumpjumper - the dozer is parked on level ground when started, and operated on gound that is generally level. The fluid level is in the acceptable range (on the lower end) on the dip stick, but I did add a gallon or two to the transmission to try and ensure that wasn't the issue. Thanks.

    John Deere 550G won't move

I have a 1992 JD550G, pedal steer, 6200 hours, 4 speed transmission that I use periodically for making logging roads. One time last fall when I started the dozer, the "Transmission Oil Temp and Pressure" light came on right away, and when I raised the parking brake lever, the pedals would not...
