    Questions about engine hours 1845C

13k around here is ridiculous. I gave $4500 for the one I had. That was 7-8yrs ago but even in pristine condition I wouldnt be giving it much thought if they wanted more than $6,000. 4000hr machines around here go for 8500-10000 and the 10,000 dollar machines are very nice.

    Questions about engine hours 1845C

I had an 1845C with 8500 on the clock and all was well engine wise. One of the tilt cylinders had to be replaced and the hydraulic lift pump went out but it was a strong machine. Controls were a little sloppy but a little work tightened everything up. Running the valves every 100 hours is a...

    mixing hydraulic fluid?

On a low hour machine I would stick to the 10w30 but I run 15w40 in my skids with over 2000hrs. As stated above I haven't had any problems with my equipment but have had to fix several over the years. I always use diesel grade oil. It is supposed to have a better additive package more suited...

    Bobcat T190

Im not familiar with the T190 system in particular but when a track motors fail internally they can bypass enough oil that the charge circuit can not keep up. No charge pressure means the brakes will not release as they should. At this point I would be doing the stall tests to see if the...

    2000 New Holland LS180

I have several of those engines in tractors and none of them have heaters. One did have a heater installed in the lower rad hose but the cows ate the wires. They are very strong and can take a little spray but rarely need it. I have one with over 10,000hrs and when its 0 degs F It gets a shot...

    2000 New Holland LS180

That plug covers the oil pump drive. The water jackets are higher in the block.

    2000 New Holland LS180

That is not for the heater.

    2000 New Holland LS180

4.5 gallons for the engine is wrong. 4.5qts sounds a little low I was thinking it was 6 or so qts. It sounds like the right spot for the heater but haven't seen one in a while. These engine are normally easy to start into the single digits without heat or spray.

    Bobcat T190

I realize if it has 325psi of charge pressure the drive belt must be working but I cant help but wonder if the belt has been checked.

What skid steer needs to have a jack to raise the cab to access components?

You will want access to the area under the cab. All kinds of debris can accumulate not to mention the ocassional need to service components. I do not use the jack for my New Holland skids because I have other equipment that can lift and tilt the cab. To be honest I havent "needed" to tilt the...

    Cat 236 or Case 1845c

Im not sure the two machines should be compared but for me it would be a no brainer the 1845C. They are ultra reliable although crude by todays standards and almost no electronics a big plus for us owners not just users. If I were just an operator I would want the most advanced slickest...

Diesel engine has multiple explosions in exhaust when starting questions

Delmer wrote: I doubt the fuel igniting in the exhaust, but it sounds like the combustion is just taking so long (getting a late start and missing peak compression) that it's just getting going and the exhaust valve opens already, the ether helping is the best clue. Maybe bump up the timing a...

    time to upgrade

20K for a machine that size in spotless condition sounds like a decent deal. They are selling for 10-15K with most having 3-4000hrs. That machine has a very tried and true Cummins engine very similar to your 1845C. I personally would spend a little more for a machine I knew had a good track...

Used or new track loader where to start?

Most definitely cant judge a book by its cover and I know several techs that I wouldn't invite over for dinner. If you have been around these dealers you know what Im saying. Some of the dealers have adequate space and resources and others don't. Even if the tech has long hair and tattoos a...

Diesel engine has multiple explosions in exhaust when starting questions

It would take a chain of events and more than one cylinder acting up to cause the ignition in the exhaust. It may be the nature of the beast given the cold temps. It is difficult to diagnose an issue from several thousand miles away.

    time to upgrade

Most all of the machines on the market today will out perform your old 1845 the down side is with all the electronics and integration they will also be more prone to issues. The 1845s were a very tough machine and have served many people very well. I wish there were still a bare bones unit on...

Used or new track loader where to start?

Track machines are very nice and have a higher level of cost associated with their undercarriage. For general dirt work most any of them will perform well. The suspended carriage units naturally have more moving parts and more cost to replace said parts but can be easier on the operator and...

    Toyota skidloader

Find a Toyota forklift dealer near you and talk to the parts guys. I have always been able to go through our local dealer to get what I needed. Also a call to Loader Parts Source a big builder of hystats for skids may have a line on something. If your cases are good there are several shops...

How many hours of work out of a full tank of fuel you get?

My hoe averages about 2gal/hr. If you are using the loader hard it will be more and if only digging with the stick it will be less. I consider this good as I have had some very thirsty machines.

Diesel engine has multiple explosions in exhaust when starting questions

I think you already outlined the problem. New top end rebuild. I will bet the guides are a little too tight for the cold temps along with the springs possibly being a little weak. The piston will close the valve when it comes to TDC and smacks it but the closing is late causing the fire to be...
