Pointers on Sperading Gravel/washout for road base?

That's what I was wondering how to keep from doing; keep the stone in the roadway. The base is nothing but sand and this time of year (no rain since early June) it's like powder. The only clay is waaay down there (3-4 feet).

Pointers on Sperading Gravel/washout for road base?

Been a while since I've been on here...pretty busy with the farm and livestock this summer. Have a job coming up with a repeat customer wanting me to build a haul road from washout. Because the place is so soft, we plan to bring the material in on taildumps backed into the property and I'll...

    Wildland Fire Dozers

Not a dozer but... Up in northern Mendocino County, on Hwy 1 north of Ft. Bragg, we saw this trackhoe with a forestry tool on the stick. I think this was a camp for the Tin Can fire. Wow.

I haven't done anything with it yet...too busy with other broken things. When I finish the job I'm on now, I need to do some PM and I think I'll tackle those blade frame fittings at the same time.

    Close Call on D20P-6!

This one doesn't look worn...but that branch put a LOT of pressure on the shifter. It was all I could do to get it pried up off the shifter without taking to it with a chinsaw...and yes, I was sweating big time.

    Close Call on D20P-6!

I'm one lucky catskinner. Last week, I was clearing land on a job not too far from the farm and managed to snag a yaupon branch on the gearshift, forcing it into the reverse position while moving forward in low. I stopped pronto but the shifter was already pushed waaay out of position and it...

Ray, I can't tell if it's a wet liner or bored. The big yellow book is rather incomplete when it comes to the engine's specifics (it does show service such as water pump removal, valve adjustment, etc...); I guess since that same engine is used in Komatsu forklifts and possibly other...

Not in Texas. If the GVW is under 26,001 lbs, and you aren't carrying passengers or hazardous materials, no CDL is required.

I've always claimed that all things are a compromise. I don't know how I could make a 60K$ machine pay for its self...I can however, make a 13k$ machine pay for its self and make me a dollar or two if I'm willing to turn a wrench on it every once in a while. Thus, the compromise. That...

60k bucks? OMG! You can buy and run a lot of used -6 and -7's for that kind of money. FWIW, I go through phases of being able to shift my '20 for hours without grinding a gear. Other times, I wish I had a -21 I grind so badly...

On a rental, probably a little bit of both. Brush removal is hard on my machine no matter how careful I try to be. I managed to bend that angled cover over the brake adjustments that are below the back of the cab backing into a cedar trunk. I've cleaned off a set of fan blades too...at least...

    A New Leaf.

iron The iron has been sitting on the trailer for about 2-weeks while I took care of my Dad and stepmother...so nothing has been done to the fittings. I've got a job scheduled for Friday and I'll pull the rig into the shop when I'm done with that one and dig into this thing...when it's...

    A New Leaf.

Pretty good. I've got as much work as I can do right now (having to attend to some health issues with my family the last few weeks) but need to ramp it up sometime in the next few weeks. I currently have 2 jobs backlogged, another one scheduled for this Friday and another to go bid next week...

    Wire for guards:

IMHO, expanded metal is a waste of time. My expanded metal screens look like they've taken incoming RPG fire. ASAP I'm heading to Gifford-Hill or Hanson and asking for some crusher screen.
