Best way to clear trees & brush

Evening gents, i have finally got back to the computer. Well it was a pretty good first day apart from a bit of brush flicking up and smashing a side window  The method i am using to clear the brush and trees is to back up within 3 feet of the start of the wall of brush, snap off the trees...

Best way to clear trees & brush

I have some rock work to do as well, starting to think that a bigger excavator may be needed. The hoe is great for most jobs and i really like it, except it is slow on the road, especially the hills, killing its only advantage.. So what size hoe is a good compromise?

Best way to clear trees & brush

I am wondering what the best way to clear 12 inch trees and brush with my backhoe. I have 100m x 100m patch of thick undergrowth and trees to clear. My method to clear would be to use my 400mm bucket with tiger teeth to pop the trees out. I was thinking of putting the pulled trees in rows...

    Case 580 D, E, K

Tomorrow is D Day, i have the choice of a spot on K with all the goodies with 5500 hours, or i can get a SLE with 6000 hours but with an intermittent trans problem. The K comes with 3 buckets, i have looked over it twice and couldn't find any faults with it. The SLE i am looking at tomorrow...

Case 580 SLE Hard to go into FWD on a hot day

Cheers Alrman, I hope it really is good enough to last. It will be interesting if the two solenoids have fixed the problem as one was definately faulty. Or it could be dirt in the shuttle valves. Just thinking aloud here

Case 580 SLE Hard to go into FWD on a hot day

It it could be a powershift machine as he wasn't explicit about which model just that it had four speeds. I guessed that he meant but it may be a powershift. I'm told10k or so for a rebuilt transmission.

Case 580 SLE Hard to go into FWD on a hot day

What is the testing procedure for a powershift model Alrman ? I will be test driving it on Friday, comes with 5 digging buckets new tyres. Just have to be confident I can get a decent amount of work out of it and put a new transmission in it if required later on. I don't like working machines...

Case 580 SLE Hard to go into FWD on a hot day

I am looking at a Case 580SLE backhoe with 6000 genuine hours, now it has a problem that seems to be electrical but this is a real question for the mechanical blokes It has a shuttle shift transmission The problem is, on a hot day it has trouble shifting into FWD on a hot day, say round 40...

    Case 580 D, E, K

It only does it on a really hot day the bloke says, and once every now and then. I'm pretty sure it's a shuttle shift. He was saying about the top plate where the solenoids go into the transmission should need to be replaced. He could still road it 40km no problems pushes fine so I'm not sure...

    Case 580 D, E, K

What are the Case SLE's like? I will be looking at a 1996 model, 6000hrs in good cond. It has a shift issue on a really hot day where it sometimes doesn't want to shift into FWD. 90% of the time i am told you wouldn't even notice it. The shift solenoids were faulty and replaced however the bloke...

Here is a job i have just done, The client now wants the fence line fully cleared, the mulcher couldn't mince all of it up, without taking the fence out.

    Case 580 D, E, K

The weld was not fully wrapped around the boom Alrman, it was only welded between the cylinder and stick. The only question i have about this unit is how do the TC's go driving wise, i cannot test the pushing power where the unit is, we drove it round a tight residential street and left it in...

    Case 580 D, E, K

Mitch, the bloke also said when i questioned about the slop of the front driveshaft out of the front of the transmission, he said that 1/8 of play with the yoke on the spline was normal for that age of machine... There is a K phase three i had a look at and is in great condition, all of the...

    Case 580 D, E, K

So i went and ran an E 4wd model a couple of days ago, the bloke said that the TQ and shuttle had been reconditioned. So when i went into a spoil pile from a recent excavation it could not fill the front bucket. This was running the bucket with the teeth inclined slightly to dig in, in first...

I am looking at a these backhoes and i have heard that they do give problems in the transmission. What are the common problems that occur in these machines. Is there also a testing scheme to determine the health of the transmission and hydraulic pumps easily when i go to have a look at the machine?

    Flail Mulchers

Intetesting concept there I was thinking of using a standard double disc opener. The soil conditions I work in range from heavy red volcanic soils to sand to very heavy black clay.

The crux is, with a Backhoe while it is running with me in it, the tractor is sitting doing nothing. If the tractor is running around the backhoe sits. I want two really neat machines, kept right up to scratch, with all bits working well. If the machines are busy all the time, that's easy to...
