We prefer teh Roadtec. We ran a demo with the MT2000 and found several safety features that make the machine cumbersome to work with. Particularly the objecvt detection system on the front tracks. It will stop if anything over 6" is in front of the track. We have peurchased a 600e and are...

Our biggest issue with the 1200 was electrical problems. It seemed to have continual issues with switches and relays as it got past 2000 hrs. Also check the track tension, we had issues with those as well. Keep in mind that any replacement parts will be pricey so check out the mill closely.

    Volvo / IR - MT2000

We ran 2 separate demo's last year with the MT2000, loads of bells and whistles, but that's not always a good thing with a mill. They could never get it running right electronically. Lots of shutting everything down and resetting the computer. Major issues with the sonar sensors on the front...

The ins and outs of milling .

Preparation helps Always review the job with the customers foreman before milling. Review the job with your crew as well so everyone knows what's coming up. Explain to the dumb truck drivers how you are planning on milling the job and try to stage the trucks so they aren't all piled up in one...

The wage gap may seem large, but when cost of living, benefits package, and year round work with overtime are factored in the gap is not enourmous. We also have a bonus program and other incentive programs that help those contributing to the success of the company earn more. The starting wage...

Hydraulic drives are not as efficient in HP transfer as direct belt drives. It also allows you to lessen the hydraulic load on your machine which mean less pumps and motors, less heat exchanging need, smaller oil cooler, less hydraulic oil needed to run the machine. Any time you can remove the...

These machines were first called Cold Planers because prior to the Galion RP-30 which was produced in 1974, the only planers out there were heater planers. They used heat to soften the aspahlt then it was scraped up. We puchased one of the first ones made and wanted to emphasize the fact that...

Roadtec 400 Can't say enough about roadtec's support and willingness to work with it's customers. One major consideration for us is availability of parts and in my book Roadtec has it all over Wirtgen in that department.

    Greasy Water thoughts

The rear steer cylinder on older Roadtecs was attached to the Machine frame and to the rear track yoke so when you lowered the rear leg it would push the track the right as if you were extending the steer cylinder. All the newer roadtecs have the steering attache at the very top of the leg...
