    Coolant confusion

I need to change the thermostat in my 70's 6000lb Yale forklift so will change coolant at the same time. It's an aluminum head Mazda engine with conventional copper and brass soldered radiator. The guy at Yale says use borate and silicate free, the new antifreezes are designed for aluminum...

Bought a 05' Cat compactor, it's all metric!

When did that start? My D6R is SAE, no metric tools on the job and no bolts in my bolt box, no taps or heli coils in my box either and not many hardware stores here have metric bolts. Makes things difficult if you're new to it. Of course I found it out after I bought it.

    Unloading a 623G

We have a 623G rental on our job the ejector comes forward before the floor rolls back forcing you to back paddle the material out. The rental mechanic says that's the way it's supposed to be. I've never been around the G's but am pretty sure they would work the same as my E & F and something...

    Engineers and dirt balance

Somewhere there are engineers that understand dirt balance, not here:cool:, we have been short on the last several projects ( same engineer) anywhere from 25 to 35 %, frustrating to say the least. How many of you have the same issue? With all the hotsy totsy computer programs it still comes down...

    Speaking of chaiins

We put new chains (non Cat) on one of the 623's 500 hours ago, 95% of the outer rollers are locked up so it's wearing on one side instead of all the way around. So far we have washed with water truck hose, used many cans of penetrating oil, tried diesel, yesterday I got a rose bud and a 24" pipe...

D6R series II equalizer bar ??

Our D6R AAX1326 year 05' has the grease type equalizer bar ends, my question is, does the center pin get grease also or 80/90w? The operation maintenance manual is vague and doesn't even mention the grease type ends only oil filled. Hope it's supposed to get grease cause that's what we've been doing

    Zerk fitting rant

What is Cat thinking by installing skinny hex zerk fittings on equipment? The kind I can't get out because there isn't enough hex for a socket to get a hold of down in a countersink. Makes a project out of nothing :Banghead Stupid IMO

    Got a good gig

Stockpiling and seperating material at a big landfill. Never had it so easy, no compaction tests, no stakes or grades, just haul dirt, what a blast! Getting black adobe clay material where ever it is, yesterday on top of a hill, for future use lining a cell, red clay material goes in a different...
