    Ash

I am demoing a house that burned down and there is a solid three feet of ash on the ground inside the footings. I have been raking it up and putting it in with the wood to go to the landfill but I am wondering if they will allow it I to the fill because it looks so much like dirt? We are going...

    Control sticks get hot

The machine is a dash 3. If its normal I guess ill just keep on running it. I was concerned that it. Meant the hydro system was overheating or something. It only does it when your really digging hard with it so I guess its just getting up to operating temp when it does it. It doesn't get so...

    Control sticks get hot

Just like the title says, my control levers in my komatsu 120 get really hot after a couple hours of hard digging. Anybody know what could be causing this?

    Shovels

Fiskars (the same company that makes pruners and garden shears) makes a line of shuvels that are all steel, light weight and have a life time warranty on them. Retail is around fourty to fifty bucks I believe.

    What size excavator?

I love my komatsu pc-120. I use around my farm and for the occasional clearing or demo job. The only time I have wanted anything bigger is when I'm doing a lot of stumping. Even then it works great its just not as fast as a bigger machine.

    Questions....questions....then ideas....what happened?

This thread has caused me to go back an update a few of my threads that I never ended up sharing what ended up happening. I had just forgotten about them and didn't think anybody really cared how things ended up. Instead of mass spamming maybe just send a message to the person that started the...

    Broken Bolt in Hydraulic Cylinder

Ill try to get some pics when I'm up there tomorrow. The problem with oversizing the hole is that when I was drilling the easy out the drill got sideways and drilled the hole crooked. So in order to get it straight and oversized I would have to get into the o ring sealing area. I can move the...

    Broken Bolt in Hydraulic Cylinder

While reinstalling the boom cylinder on my excavater I managed to shear one of the bolts that holds the metal hose bracket to the cylinder. I went and got my easy out set and proceeded to break that off as well. I removed the easy out but in the process buggered up the bolt hole to the point...

    Off Road Dump Trailer

Those trailers look like what I had in mind but on a much smaller and cheaper scale. I have ended up using several of your suggestions. I have a properly crowned road out to the dirt mound now with a little bit of gravel on top in case it gets wet. Ive also got some matts I keep out there for...

    Komatsu D31P-20 Radiator Flush

I'm having almost the same problem with my excavater and was considering the same thing. I look forward to seeing what has worked for other guys in the past.

Anyone use their dozer to pull a large offset harrow?

The guy I bought my dozer from used his D7 to pull a gigantic disk similar to what your have I think. He said if there were stumps no bigger than a foot in diameter he wouldnt even bother pulling them out before he ran the disk. He would just chop the stumps the root mat and everything and...

Can 13 ton excavator lift and move a 20ft Shipping container !

I've never actually dead lifted mine but I have the same setup you have and I can drag the container around from one end with no problem. It picks up one end so easily I can't imagine it having any trouble picking up the entire thing. Isn't the general rule that excacaters can lift one third...

    Propper pond construction

The land is a triangle shape that has the road on one very short side and a creek running along the long backside. I started out with digging several ditches along the driveway and attaching them to the road ditch. This seemed to help a lot. I need more dirt to raise the grade on some of the...

    Propper pond construction

I currently have a pond on my property that I am going to expand to a little less than two acres. As it sits now its about fifty by one hundred feet. Right now it is attached to the ditch that runs out to the highway and I am wondering if this is the best way to have it layed out. It seems...

    rust in fuel tank

I've got a little back hoe that had the same problem. I tried adding another filter and I just ended up having to replace filters CONSTANTLY. I ended up filling it full of kerosene and small gravel and letting it ride around in the truck bed for a few days. I would turn it over every day so a...

D7 17A How stuck is stuck on the motor

I've used marvels mystify oil and Pb blaster with success on several occasions. If you only got a little bit of rain though you should be fine just blowing the water out. I always like to spray some wd40 in the cylinders once I have to water out just to lube everything up good.

    Damn!!!

Been there. Tried and tried to dig myself out. Ended up throwing a track and had to call a wrecker to come pull me out.

Should I buy this Deere 590D?

Looks like a good deal to me. In my experience leaky cylinders usually blow out pretty quickly so I would factor that into the price. I wouldn't worry about the engine smoking. My hoe smokes on startup but runs like a champion once its warmed up.
