    How many lower there fee's?

I had a guy pull up today in a tandem today looking for dirt. He then went on to tell me he was willing to hire out at $35/hr.

    Changing Sprockets

We just did this a couple of days ago on a 345 to replace the idler assembly. It sure helped that the guy we brought out had a portable pin press. That made things relatively easy. Look for the master link/pin. It's the pin with the dimple in it. Then we removed the two grouser pads covering...

How much truck do I need.

No yearnings, but we always had a bushel on holidays - Memorial Day, Labor Day, etc. I do remember I used to love crab chips - potato chips w/crab seasoning on them. I'd take my allowance down to the Wawa and buy crab chips and candy. There's no accounting for taste.

How much truck do I need.

Went back a few years ago to see the old house - seems so small now. Love west Texas. Used to date a girl from Miami (Miama) but never got to see the cow calling contest, and my wife is from Lubbock. Have a family ranch in Post - sometimes I get to act like a cowboy.

How much truck do I need.

Thanks. Ironically, I'm 25-30 years removed from Columbia, MD (Howard County). Small world.

How much truck do I need.

I agree that in a perfect world I'd have the luxury of overkill. My thought with a city truck is a shorter trailer and truck combo for agility around town. I only have one 15 ton class excavator but have 21 other pieces that would be OK on this combo (312 class on...

How much truck do I need.

Toyman, I was thinking about doing the same thing (single axle tractor with a fifth-wheel 25 ton trailer) for hauling smaller/non permitted equipment in the city. My thinking was a 34,000lb allowable on the rear/trailer tandems and 23,000 on the rear tractor. I was looking for feedback on this...

    Best Mid Size?

Takeuchi 1140s are good machines (32,000lbs) - we have two. Have been dependable, comfortable cabs, operators like them. Don't know anything about the Terex or equivalent IngersollRand model. Yanmar makes an SV100 (21,000lbs). We've used the Yanmar machine extensively in smaller sizes...

what does an IT backhoe get me?

Another note on the Case. Case typically uses ACS couplers on the front end and our experience with them were not good. The top "loop" would break off and the coupler pins needed to be adjusted often. I believe you can opt for a JRB coupler in the Case and that would be the way to go - we've...

    Zero Tail vs. Standard Swing

I don't know if it is available anymore, but Komatsu did make a PC158US. I know my dealer had a couple last year but I don't see a 2008 model on the Komatsu website.

    Cat 420D

Try calling the local CAT dealer (or the selling dealer - hopefully it's the same) and talk to someone in product support. Give him the serial# of the machine and see if he can give you some info on it. He may have info on warranty work or PM work that would help confirm/deny the indicated...
