    Cat CS 533E wheels

2004 Cat CS 533E ASL 169 I need to find 2 rear wheels. The wheels on it are original with the original tires and both are need of replacement. The tires are obviously well past service life but still hold air but are leaking the water ballast. Over the years the water ballast has...

So this happened yesterday on the southside of B'ham. The story goes that a Uhaul truck struck a 60,000 lb pre-cast beam and knocked it off it's notch on the pre-cast column and landed on the truck, pinning 2 people inside. No one died...

Strange, interesting and funny stories buying and selling equipment

I've been following the 303.5 mini-ex thread and thought I would post a sort of converse story about a T250 I sold around 10 years ago. Had a T250, S250 and 334 mini for sale at the same time. CL add read - 2004 Bobcat T250 with 4K hours for $15K. Then there were 5-6 pics showing the...

Old tricks GC's use to beat your price down are coming back around again

We've been bidding a lot of commercial work mostly retail/service type work with some institutional thrown in amongst the mix. Sent in my bid on a national tire chain store. Simple ground up construction, 6K SF building, 1 acre site with 500-750 CY of dirt to move, 5-6 inlets and a couple...

Nice 304 mini at the local dealer.

Went down to the dealer Thursday to check on our 325 since SiTech was swapping out the rear sensor poles. This little one was parked a couple of spaces over. Nicely spec'd machine I figure it's a special order due to the configuration. Metal tracks, hydro thumb, manual coupler, full cab and...

    Lube skid

We would like to have an easier way to perform 250, 500, 1000 hour services in the field. Currently we do 250's and some 500's in the field but have to bring the iron to the yard for the 1000 hour services due to the volume of oil. Looked at Thundercreek trailers at Conexpo and got a price for...

    Conexpo 2023

Well Conexpo is rolling around again in March 2023 so let's start the "official" HEF Conex thread. Wife and I plan on attended and already have our rooms reserved at MGM. We did not attend the 2020 show due to obvious reasons and looking forward to this show. I really enjoy the shows and the...

    This kid is good.

This kid knows how to run a 953, damn good operator. Kudos. For the ones out West that don't have track loaders this is one of many reasons track loaders are so common on the Eastern side of the US. A 953 is very versatile with skilled hands at the controls.

Source for small Eaton/Char-Lynn hydraulic motors

Anyone know of a reputable source for Eaton/Char-Lynn hyd motors? A drive motor on one of our Wacker trench rollers is leaking around the shaft and not sure if it can be sealed. Char-Lynn part # 104-4114-006 Wacker Part #181899 I've come across a couple of sources on the net that range...

Material and equipment price increases and availability

Didn't want to derail DM's thread on heavy truck parts availability so let's start a new thread. For the ones who purchase and install construction materials what are you seeing in terms of price increases and availability? Here in AL the only RCP (reinforced concrete pipe) manufacturer...

    I would hire this guy

Getting older, trying to get at least 30 mins and 1.5-2 miles on the treadmill a day and need something to pass the time so I watch various videos on Youtube. Ran across this video in the bowels of Youtube and was impressed. This guy is a pretty damn good operator considering the piece of wore...

Best mobile crusher for recycling concrete

Well as the thread is titled what's the best mobile crusher for recycling concrete and other demo debris? I've been kicking around this idea for years including many conversations here on HEF. Looking for info from the ones who've owned, operated and/or wrenched on mobile plants. Here is...

    321DLCR quick coupler install

Our 321DLCR serial # MPG 271 didn't come with the factory hydraulic lines for a quick coupler. I am ignorant of hydraulic systems so how hard would it be too plumb the lines? The line from the hydraulic source to the stick is a no-brainer but what about the other parts? We are getting a Cat...

    Talk about having a Monday.

Well my super sent me this pic this afternoon from a small job where we're undercutting 4-6' of unsuitable soil and hauling in engineered fill. This was one of the tri-axles hauling the fill in. Had it put out quickly - always have fire extinguishers on your trucks and equipment. Appears...
