    Case 450CT

:Uhg...took and hour to get the machine out from under the shed and on the trailer this morning...Think I will try replacing the console next and see if that helps. I was pretty sure that it was the cab sensor, but that doesn't seem so anymore...the ol' quarter trick doesn't seem to work as...

    Deutz f3l

Finally got time to tear it down and look at it the other day. Turns out that the rack that slides back and forth to activate the injection pumps was bent in just the right spot so that when it moved in the block it would just barely trip over one the the pegs on the third pump. Bent it back...

    Deutz f3l

Yea, sorry ment to put oil cooled instead of air cooled. Anyway, there is no priming lever on the supply pump on this motor or I probably would of had it running by now. I haven't had time to work on it the past few days, maybe ill get around to it sometime tomorrow or next week sometime. Ive...

    Dozer Blade

I bought one a few years back and honestly hardly ever use it. Maybe its just me but I find a plain ol' bucket and a few teeth to do a better job. However if you are going to buy one for using on roads I feel that the grader attachment will do a better job than the dozer blade. As someone...

    Deutz f3l

Yep thats it. Individual cam operated pump for each cylinder. Deutz F3L 1011 F. Dont quote me on this but im thinking like the return line from one of the injectors was leaking and they just put a new section of hose in. And to the best of my knowledge it ran for a few minutes and then died...

    Deutz f3l

Ive got a Dynapac CC142 with a deutz air cooled diesel. The guys pulled it into the shop the other day to fix a fuel leak and now I cant get the thing to start. Ive got plenty of fuel coming up to each individual injection pump but they wont pump it to the top. Ive verified that the cams are...

    John Deere 310 SG

Ive got a John Deere 310SG with the electric parking brake. We were using it on a job one time and one of the guys was running it around in 4WD and it got really hot and forcing trans fluid out the fill pipe. Now the parking brake applies itself every once and a while and is a pain is the a@@...

$ Rate/Mile for Heavy Equipment Hauling

I would say anything under 250 miles the trailer needs to be make $40-$50 an hour. My trailer would roll for nothing less. Anything over 250 I would try and work out flat rate deals per job.

Any tips for someone new to the paving business?

What everyone said here is very true. I do a few million a year in paving work. Everyone on your crew has got to know what they are doing and whats going on at all times. Best to have a top notch roller man and depending on the type of paver you start with you'll probably end up with a 2-3...

    Too cold to lay asphalt?

You can actually pave well down to 0 or below. The problem with laying asphalt in anything lower than 45-50 degrees is that its harder to get compaction due to the asphalt cooling so quickly. Also frozen subgrades would prove to be problematic later on. Asphalt gains compaction due to the...
