My Perkins Sometimes has Run on Disease

Sometimes when I turn the engine off on my forklift, a 2007 manitou with a 4.4 Perkins the engine doesn't stop and instead it slows down and starts to sound like it's choking. It usually turns of in about ten to twenty seconds after. Does anyone know what this could be? Thanks in advance.

Dunno Dunno, try everything else first, then start replacing parts, how many hours? Pull back the rubber and check it mechanically, should kinda click.

    traverse telehandlers

Masterlink The masterlink is just an extra hook for the chain at the top closest to the connection. You hook where you need to and then tighten to the top. Of course with a crane you have lots of stick but a forklift is not a crane so it's best to rig it tight. Even though it's best to rig long...

looks scary If you don't mind my 2 cents get some better rigging. Go to shaws in the paigan industrial, they sell to h&h and stuff like that get yourself chains w/ a masterlink. You can also get a jib for the machine. The jib will make your life better for that kind of lifting. Jody @ groundhog...

Feds Demand 29 mpg Pickup Truck

Want fuel economy? What you should regulate is speed and acceleration rates: It feels good to stomp on the gas and feel the torque. Car manufactures market speed and power, just like food manufactures market 0 this or high this. Limit large trucks (aka semi's) to 80 kph or New York States speed...

    Best gas engine????

Keep NA working Its nice to keep jobs in our continent but lets face it. What would vehicles look like if they kept european and japanese and korean manufacturers out. As far as small cars go I wouldn't buy anything but japanese. The big 3 push old technology, government bailouts to keep there...

    Best gas engine????

On the money! Diesel should be the only power for a truck. My vote for diesel would be duramax or cummins, duramax four shear power, and cummins for fuel economy and reliability. I think the duramax would be the best for sure if GM didn't get their greasy paws in it and just let iszuzu do...

    Hydraulic cooler on telehandlers?

What about installing a hydraulic heater for winter? What would someone think about installing a hydraulic fluid heater in the tank of a telehandler? Are most ISO-22 fluids similair in quality? The dealer used shell 22 standard when I bought my machine. When I changed the fluid I used esso aka...

    Nobody talks about lifts

I've rented a brand new one in 08 with 8 hours and had the same problem. It might be structural (aka the way it was built)

    Ingersol 723 / Bobcat 723

Buy what you can get serviced. I have a manitou all be it a 10 54 so its not for digging. The users manual covers more machines than the 1745 I have and only makes note about not being rough on the 4stage boom machines The ingersol rand or anything with a chain on it are not supposed to dig...

    Skytrak, JLG, Lull, Carelift

Been on the cat machine before Been on the Cat machine @ the Cat Rental Store. The cat looked like it had lots of bells and whistles, more than any machine i've been in. The rental store which even sells them, the instructor seemed like he didn't like the new machine vs the old machines. Maybe...

Extra lift capacity with foam filled tires?

If a machine that does not require ballast were equipped with foam filled tires how much more could it lift at distance? How much more stable would it be. Looking at buying a second machine. Don't usually lift much more than a couple thousand pounds at a time so would like to know how much the...

    transmisions?

I have an 07 mt1745 Hydrostatic. Here is what I will say. It is safer than a torque converter machine. It is less stressfull on the operator( idiot proof) The operator does not have to think about the gearing at all unless he is going to road the machine. This is good when you've got lots of...

    Skytrak, JLG, Lull, Carelift

JLG seems to be the steel erectors favorite at least here in alberta. The booms are huge and they seem to be a tank at 34000 lbs. Steel gets heavy fast. Also I see the guys that do pre fabricated block wall sections seem to only use JLG. If you're renting them for wood framing, try to buy some...

Understand the Stability Triangle for Forklift Safety

I have a policy. Boom always travels as low as possible. When lifting with a jib, I raise the jib as high as I can and keep my boom as low as I can. This keeps the main weight which is the boom at as low of an elevation as possible. Proper rigging is important. Chains with a master link at the...

How does perkins compare to cummins /deere? What do people think about, Isuszu, Mercedes, Deutz etc. I heard kenworth dropped cat because they were having so many problems with Cat engines with new emissions standards. I know I guy that switched to hitachi excavators over deere because they were...

Just make sure you can get parts, if you're stuck with one dealer that can get parts then its kind of like a marriage. JCB's seem like good machines, good resale value by the looks of things. Used to own a 550 and had very few problems thru 3000 hrs

    JLG Accuplace

Must be talking about the archaic jcb. There are some jcb's with high boom mounts that are probably american made knockoffs or old designs. The low mount digging machines seem to be caddilac. Used to own a 550-140 awsome machine, and reliable. Paid 146 can in dec 06 for my manitou 1745...

Don't understand your question. Not a dealer. Might start bringing in used machines from the states, using them on my job site and then selling them for profit. One guy out here seems to be doing pretty good.
