    140 H Troubles

20/80, not a lot more smoke, but it was full summer in Aus, so very dusty, but the noise & lack of power is what we noticed the most

    140 H Troubles

G'Day, We have had a problem like this before, it was a blown / rubbed through aftercooler hose. It rubbed through on the underneith of the bonnet on the RHR side of engine cover, it sounded like a seizing alternator or something, but would only do it under load, hence boost was up. I was able...

    CATERPILLAR 966K engine

G’Day Paul Six How did the 966K go performance wise compared to the 966H? reading the spec sheets it seems a bit confusing with FTSTL, how tippy do the “K” series seem compared to the Hs with similar size buckets. Did the operators pick up the stick steer pretty quick, how did they like it...

    CATERPILLAR 966K engine

G'Day Paul Six The "K"s are just turning up here in Aus, how are your machines going all in all, as good as the mighty "H"s or better? We have had a great run out of the "H"s from 950 up to 980 in our area, the 980Hs going over 20,000 on original components. Hope the "K"s will follow this...

Converting pony motor to elec. starter on Cat 318

Good morning An old friend of mine has an old D4 with donkey start motor, that does run & start:). His problem is that he is getting rather old & still loves getting out on his D4 but he is unable to pull start the donkey unless one of the younger boys are around. Is there an electric start...

12H, now I need park brake info

With the "H" it is heaps easier to repair park brake then on a good ol "G". No need to remove trans. That front housing you are looking at comes of after you take the jack shaft of between diff and trans. Pretty heavy but ok to lift by yourself just dont drop it.

    CASE 621D parkbrake

G'Day Hornet adjustment is right & pads are new, problem is that there is oil pressure going to Park Brake assembly all the time regardless of what position switch is in, even when engine is off till park brake accumalator pressure drops off, once no pressure in system spring pack takes over &...

    CASE 621D parkbrake

Thanks Alrman, pretty neat isn't it how you can get help from around the world. Does anyone know if this valve fails will it give us our problem? Are these a good little loader or a bit problematic? Havn't had much to do with Case gear. thanks everyone

    CASE 621D parkbrake

getting closer Thanks for your help, we had a good look at belvel springs & see what you mean, bit different what how you would think they would go in. We have learnt heaps today about trying to get a little loader to stop rolling. What we have worked out is that park brake assembly has oil...

    CASE 621D parkbrake

G'Day Everyone. Helping a friend with a Case 621D, the problem we have is that parkbrake won't apply. It seems to work electrically as light on dash comes on & goes off correctly but brake won’t hold. He has a seal kit for brake assembly (wow not cheap $480) so we will fit that...

    Cat controls, skidsteer

If this topic is still about pilot & EH joysticks controls, I would like to ask a question, going from a 242B to a 246C I have noticed that the 246C takes more wrist effort to dump / crowd the bucket then the good ol 242B, anyone else notice this? & if so is there a fix. Jumped in a few other...

Thanks mate. Yep we got a price from Broon's, you are right some very nice gear. we may go that way but the boss want's to have a bit more of a look around, how do you find your old Horward, we had a fair few bearing dramas early in the piece but she goes good now. Couldn't find any thing on...

    Gettin er Done.

G'Day Micheal What make of Free Roll are you running behind the 12H? We are looking at updating a worn out old Horward Bagshaw. Any info on Free Roll makers in Aust would be great, have not had anything to do with newer units for over 10 years. thanks heaps

    Cat 248 assistance

Squizzy is 100% right. A lot of operators I know actually use 15W40 engine oil for our area as it meets ambient temp ranges for oil. This keeps it simple, one oil for machine.:D
