    Aux line pressure relief

Hi all. I have a 2003 JD 240 series II skid steer. My issue is I cannot get the pressure to bleed off the Aux. lines to allow hooking up my grappel without shutting the machine off and cracking/unscrewing the fitting to relief the pressure first. Drives me nuts.

    Pins

JD 240 series II , bottom pins( bucket) will no longer take grease. How do I remove those pins or what is the required fix. I would like to do this before I wreck the bushings. The zerks are not clogged, I checked them already. Any advice would be appreciated.

    Track question.

Well guys I was able to install the track without splitting it.First I installed my track tensioner and idler, then I used the excavator to compress the tensioner. I then removed my top roller for more clearance. I used my skidsteer to lift the track and place it over the rear sprocket, then did...

    Track question.

Thanks guys. Thats what I was thinking if I compress my tensioner I could possibly slip it on and then not have to split the track. The chain is in excellent shape with little to no wear so I know I am not going to have much slack to play with. If it looks like too much trouble I will split it ...

    Track question.

    Track Adjuster

Cat that is exactly what I am working with. Mine is a 290D. I will try to get to that job tonight. I have never posted a pic. That could be worse then repairing my excavator.LOL I was concerned with having to deal with the coil spring but if I don't have to mess with that the job shouldn't be...

    Track Adjuster

track tensioner Cat, I take it that requires complete diassembly of the unit. Removing the spring and such. Correct???? You mentioned plugging the relief hole, can you explain the purpose. Sorry for all the questions, just want to do it right the first time. I really appreciate the advice.

    Track Adjuster

Thanks Cat. I have not installed my final yet so I have open Hyd lines.I was wondering if I could compress it some way while it was out of the machine. I am an auto mech by trade and aware of the preload of the spring, but I thank ya for the heads up. I guess basically my concern is that...

    Track Adjuster

Looking for advice on how to compress a track adjuster ( JD-290) with the adjuster already removed. I was able to back off my grease zerk and pound in back in about an inch with a sledge and a block of wood. It is extended about 4 inches. How far in will it compress ? Does the coil...

    John Deere 290

290 final drive Well I took the final drive apart over the weekend. I found that the nut that screws to the pump side spindle came off allowing the sprocket and asembly to fall away from the pump side of the final drive. Looking at the manual I have, it looks like the nut is held in place...

    John Deere 290

We have not disassembled the unit yet should get to that today, but by looking at the theards that I can see, there is just a real slight amount of damage. I felt it right away when it let go so the machine didn't travel but just a couple of feet. Not really knowing what I am looking at though...

    John Deere 290

An update on my 290. Well I guess the reason for the leaking seal was due to a failure internal to the final drive. The spocket to the final drive broke away from pump side. The pump is working fine but the sprocket and drive assembly fell off.LOL. So now the repair job starts. I have removed the...

    John Deere 290

leak Thanks guys, I appreciate the info.It is definitly gear oil that leaks. The outside cover of the 290 final drive actually had three plugs. One is directly in the center. One is on the outboard edge.If I rotate the one on the outboard edge to the 6 oclock position, the other plug would then...
