    Trimble or Topcon?

Sooooo.....I have no idea what I was thinking about in that last sentence... LOL I think I past out about then in my drunken stupor. Posting permissions say I may edit my posts, but I see no edit button. What am I missing? . So anyways, to continue..... After one of many rain storms we've had...

    Trimble or Topcon?

I finally got to work with trimble gcs900 v12.2 on a new D6N we bought. Apart from originally hating D6N's over D6T's, I'll just let that part slide for now. So I'm at this job where we are building a cell for contaminated waste. There are quite a few of these being built in the oil rich regions...

    Trimble or Topcon?

Have you used version 12.2? I'm eagerly waiting to try it, but the only CB460 (required for 12.2) we have is in a D6T that's down with engine problems right now. All the others are CB430's.

Can GPS help a young in experienced operator do quality professional grading?

I'm sure what he means by ghost signal is the reflected signal off rock, buildings, tree's, etc. I've never worked around tall buildings with gps, but I sure have worked close to tall spruce trees numerous times building roads and pads. The satellite signals definately do get bounced (reflected)...

    decel ?

hvy 1ton is absolutely correct. If you go into the computer on the dash of that 750J you can set it however you want the FNR lever to react. You can set it slow and smooth or quite aggressive direction changes. I prefer the middle setting. You can also set the decellerator response in the same...

    D6N vs 750J

I would have to disagree with a few things mentioned here. I have found that most 6N's I've run are pretty gutless and the 750J's will out-push them easily. There is the odd 6N that pushes good though. Must be chipped differently or something. Do you like the fast hydraulic speed on the 750J? If...

    Cat 627/657 Pic Post

That pic of the buggy with the broken bail.....something just doesn't look right to me. It looks to small to be a 57. Looks more like a 27 with a 57 sticker on it. I could be wrong though.....getting old and need glasses. :)

Performance & Fuel economy chips For cat dozers.

Yes that would be nice. I wish they pushed as good as the D6R's do. I find myself having to shift down into 1st way too often, which I rarely ever had to with the R.

    xm or sirius?

I actually like Octane more now since the merger. Before it was always the same 25 songs over and over on a 3 hour rotation. You get sick of the songs way too quick that way. I like the variety that the squizz team brought over. :)

    Whats good to operate?

Hi Deas Plant Please don't misunderstand my post. I was not trying to belittle or take anything away from anyone either. I have nothing but respect for any operator who can cut grade by the seat of their pants, no matter what they are running. You may be very right. It might turn out to be...

    Whats good to operate?

It's just a personal thing for when more than one operator run the same machine. Each operator has their own style and runs the machine a little differently. I personally like the hydraulic controls faster and more sensitive than a lot of cat guys. Got that way from running JD 750's for a few...

    cab comfort

re: A/C thermostat I don't think there is a thermostat control for the A/C either. You just have to add a little heater action to compensate. As posted above, make sure your water (heater) valve isn't turned off.

    The Ultimate Medium Dozer?

My Perfect Dozer. Hey guys, Here's a few things I would like added or changed to make our life at work more comfortable and convenient. Design engineers should have to spend a few full 12+ hour days in machines and realize that we spend more time in them than we do at home. I've been running...

    who makes the BEST dozer

D6k I'm really curious what the cat hydrostatic drivetrain will be like. If it's anything like Deere's 650/750, it'll be great. I also wonder if cat will use it in bigger machines at some point. The D6K is a little small for what I do usually. As for the Accugrade Lazer, I'm sure it will great...

    Dozers and operator cabs

I've ran old equipment many days throughout my career in dusty conditions, even to the point of having an eye bandaged over from getting the retina scratched from blowing sand. Other times I recall spreading top soil in real windy conditions where you couldn't see the corner of your blade. In...

    who makes the BEST dozer

my 2 cents I have to agree with the majority and say that cat is the overall winner. Komatsu dozers are nice for a while when they are new, but they don't seem to stand up as well as cat. I've ran a few D61's and my main beef with them is that they don't steer once they are have a few hours...

what is this, push block for dozer?

push block purpose In around 88/89 I ran several old D8H's with push blocks like that. We pulled 463 cable scrapers behind and the push blocks came in handy push loading the guy in front of you or giving them a shove if they got stuck. Since they are relatively pretty light, they didn't...

how many Sirius Satelite subcribers are on here...

Sirius Kicks A** I've had sirius here for over a year and love it. I just can't handle commercial radio anymore. I've never had XM but everyone I talk to prefers sirius. XM has too many channels without DJ's certain hours, and the music is just randomly picked by a computer meaning you hear a...
