diff breathers

Hi ive got a 966 F loader anyone know if diff breathers are fitted and where ,crawled all over it cant find any nothing listed in the book thanks.

No Serial Number makes it a bit difficult. If you have axle breathers they will probably be like a small grease fitting located right on top of the diff housing on both axles. Usually they get buried in dirt and seize up. If you have them look for #4 in the drawing below, that's the front axle. For the rear axle look for the same fitting but located on the front side of the axle housing pointing forward (directly above the differential pinion housing).
On a lot of loaders I've been around they were junked and replaced by a 1/8" fitting connected to a long hose ending in a serviceable spin-on breather element mounted in an accessible position somewhere up in the machine frame. One for each axle obviously.

Hi Nige thanks i thought they may have been brake bleed screws
i will now remove them and fit new breathers

The tall ones #8 in the pic are brake bleeders its been a while but I don't believe our F had vents

The long screws number 8 p/n 4e2613 are bleeders machine was sitting for two years and has a prob with brake bypass looks a though they have been filling the reservoir every time the light come on filling the housing with oil to the point oil is starting to come past the pinion seal when i removed the level plug the pressure build up blew oil everywere was when i went looking for the breather hoping it was blocked repairs are going to be done shortly so hopefuly can find the screw #4 in your drawing
