2005 Z60/34 sn 4472, purchased used with 2900 hours

Unit operated normally until last week, then platform controls became inoperative except stop button and horn, ie no drive, engine speed, start or boom functions from the platform.

All is normal using the ground controls

Any ideas ? Other and call out a repair tech ?

Check that the contacts in the platform e-stop aren't sticking. If they have 2 or 3 different switches stacked up under the e-stop 1 switch might be sticking and that can cause funky things sometimes. Another thing I would check is for loose wires inside both the ground and platform control boxes. Sometimes a wire pops loose and messes things up. Some Genies also have a service bypass keyswitch on the side of the ground control box. If it does, check that it isn't in service bypass mode or that the switch isn't broken off (some Genie models the hood has a tendency to break the switch if the hood gets slammed shut).

As soon as it warms up a bit this morning I am going to pull the platform emergency stop and check function.

Let you know

I can get a new e stop for about $50

Thank you very much for your feedback

92U 3406 - you nailed the problem first try.

Open up platform control enclosure and probe around with voltmeter.

At emergency stop contact switches, with the emergency stop button pulled out, measure 12 volts on the three contact switch input sides. Contact switches one and three have zero volts on the output side, contact switch two has 12 volts.

Also none of the LED’s on the platform control circuit board are lit.

Mess around with the emergency stop button for a while and finally the LED’s light up and I have 12 volts on the output side of all three contact switches.

All functions on platform now operable.

Button up the enclosure and notify framing crew ‘do not use emergency stop button on platform’. Also order new emergency stop button off of eBay.
