Went to Pacific today and picked up my driveshafts.Coast Powertrain built them but Larry did the pricing for me.They are 1350 u-joints and everything is new.All the u-joints are the same size..
Been working on the floors trying to refit the dog house to cover up cutting the floor out for the 5spd..Getting close.Need to find a shifter boot and e-brake boot.Wires clamped to the floor are for the Pac-brakegrizzly 001.JPG grizzly 005.JPG
Going to put new valve springs(stronger pressure)and new valve stem seals in this week end.Engine will be ready to re-fire next week...
I just noticed that my can of never seize manages to make it into a lot of my pictures..

Put all new valve springs in today. These are higher seat pressure for the exhaust brake.I didnt have to change the intake springs but other than the cost of the 6 springs its no more labour. The spring compressor compresses both springs at once.I put new valve stem seals in at the same time..
Next week I will put a new fuel pin in the pump and change the governor spring.Looking forward to hearing her run again..

I think I only ever put the windshields in one Pacific cab.Freedie the charge hand told me to be very carefull cutting the rubber with the exacto knife.Of course I listened well and with in minutes was on my way to the hospital for a finger full of stitches..
Anyways..I am thinking this pc of glass is to small(read big leak)...It is barely inside the rubber.Glass was done by Speedy and has their name on it with a DOT #..Not sure if its require but there is no sealer in it either.
I will make a template of the opening and start over. The rubber actually is in good shape but it needs new glass...

Typically those flat glass windshields in a KW don't have sealer, with proper fitting glass if it doesn't seal I would replace the rubber. We are making a trip to central Alberta in a couple weeks to visit my sister's family and are coming through that way on our way home, hopefully will see you cruising around in it by then!

The rubber actually feels ok and I didn't think they used sealer.I am thinking the glass is way to small..I will pull one out in a few days and make a template of the opening..
Not sure if I will have the truck on the road by then but you are welcome to come by for a garage tour...
After work tonight I changed the fuel pin and the governor spring in the injection pump..
Need to finish the intercooler piping and fire it up...

Pulled the windshields out to day.Last of the trucks issues as far as I know..They were leaking and appear to have always leaked.Top of the passengers side is the worse.Looks like the seal never was fit properly.I suspect the glass is to small and the seal isn't loaded properly. Both pcs of glass are slightly different, especially the corners. They have good witness marks on them from the seal so problem areas are easy to see..Time for me to sit down and do some math..
Not sure how they cut glass now a days but I am sure its some form of digital CNC..Shouldn't be a problem correcting the glass dimensions..
I will sand out all the damage and put some epoxy on it.Truck has 3 very heavy coats of paint on it and for me that means total disassembly and walnut shell blasting everything to bare metal again..I stripped both my Mustangs by hand inside out upside down and backwards..Not a road I want to go down right now.It also adds a year to getting it on the road and another large dent in my pocket..

You can see in the 3rd picture the witness mark from the seal...Not good

So..no idea where the windshield rubber came from...Any thoughts please let me know.Internet says KW glass is 20"H mine is 17.75.Length of mine is 29 15/16 and KW is 30.25 at the top and 29 13/16 at the bottom for width.
All this may explain why the glass was cut by speedy but where the hell did the seal come from..
Seal is good.If I knew what it came out of I could get correct glass dimensions.grizzly 002.JPG grizzly 003.JPG grizzly 005.JPG grizzly 006.JPG

There are 2 different sizes of KW flat glass windshields but I don't know the dimensions. It may be possible you have the smaller ones and found dimensions for the bigger ones. I don't know what other trucks have that style glass.

Hello mate, excellent work you're getting done there, could you tack some "corner gussets" in that follow the glass shape a little better? Stuck on the inside surface, even filled level on the outside. The original seal would cover any line. Just a thought, best regards from here. John

Spent some time sanding all the crap down.Other than the rust it had some huge blisters in the paint that went all the way to bare metal.I hate sanding and don't like the dust either so I have very little equipment to deal with these kinds of repairs...
I sanded all the rust off and gave it a coat of POR 15 and sanded the paint aggressively and put a coat of Glyptal primer on it.Once it drys I will gets some finer paper and sand the scratches and top coat it with something..grizzly 001 (80).JPG
Tomorrow I go get all my exhaust parts and start building the exhaust.Mac Muffler in Surrey is supplying me with all the parts I need....

Came home with a truck load of exhaust parts today all 4".Nine elbows, the two 4' stacks and 6 feet of straight pipe, one stainless resonator/muffler,rain caps,15" of flex pipe and a pile of clamps..
I have already started cutting it all up and fitting..I have huge space restrictions under the box but I am determined to put the "T" pipe under the box..
Tomorrow I start welding the parts up if the weather is good..No welding or grinding can be done in my shop for the next while..
Exhaust is going to be a bit of a challenge.I am indeed my own worse enemy...I am OK with that...
A few other parts showed up today as well.I replaced the serp belt and bought a special fitting to delete the oem fuel heater that was never hooked up.The heaters are prone to leaking so I ditched before it came to that.If I want a fuel heater the new Fleet Guard filter has one.
Also installed and wired up my Wolverine oil pan heater...grizzly 001.JPG grizzly 002.JPG grizzly 003.JPG grizzly 004.JPG

I managed to get the stacks and the T pipe done today..It was not fun nor easy.Had I a brick wall I would have head butted it a few times.Mary spent an hour with me tonight getting things clamped up and kinda straight...
Had to zip cut the e-brake cable mount off to get the T up under the box.I will just make a new bracket..
Front part is all done and the muffler mounted I just have to figure out the pipes and connect them..How hard could that be..
I am happy with the way it turned out.Stacks are only 2" above the cab...
I will get it finished in the next day or two...grizzly 006.JPG grizzly 007.JPG grizzly 008.JPG

Once again my can of never seize has photo bombed my pictures

Was hoping to finish the exhaust today but they gave me the wrong clamps and by the time I noticed it was too late...Its a hour round trip so tomorrow AM it will be..
Mary came home with my freshly painted parts so that will keep me busy for a while.
I have new LED lights for the back and am putting all new wiring in the back..You can see the new SS cables I had made for the tailgate..My friend has all the tooling for making the cables.Much nicer than the chains that were on..
Parts were sandblasted and epoxy coated satin black..

Really nice job on the cables. Have you picked a final colour?

Ah yes...the final color....Lets just say that for now the truck will be yellow and satin black..
In the end it will be a color that no other Grizzly wears...I am thinking of having a epoxy party here.We will supply all the food, drinks, sand paper, masking tape and paint...Two days of sanding, masking and painting..
Still sounds like a lot of work..

Honestly its not something I am really thinking about right now..I am concentrating on making it a good working truck for me to drive ...
Mary would like to see the truck a satin drab green .Nothing flashy and nothing to worry about.
The jury is still out..

Diamondtguy,is your yellow close to Hayes Yellow? Hmmm, just wondering. A sanding party. Well your yard looks like it could hold one or two tents. Maybe a spot for island reps? Never know
