IMG_8712.JPG Had electrical issues on the Soilmec yesterday. It was dumb luck I was on that site when it acted up. Code was for the crowd circuit solenoid overload. After watching the operator and listening to what he was describing I asked him to try rotary up and down, fault then went to that circuit. Odds of both being faulty at the same time are slim. Common denominator to them is the right joystick and the deadman switch. Tore into it and discovered the loom wore through and a cute little wire grounding out against the steel plate holding the valve. The diagnosis was aided by the fact the previous mechanic chased a similar issue awhile back and found a similar condition in the left joystick. It did take him and the Soilmec wizard three days to find it..... Either way he was fixed and drilling again.

IMG_8720.JPG IMG_8721.JPG Loaded up to do a little truckin tomorrow. Downtown Tulsa no less. Compared to IMT and Soilmec the old Watson drills are ancient technology wise but man they can sure punch holes in the ground and they darn sure don't quit when a 16 gauge wire shorts out. Simple to work on but not quite as easy to haul.

Thanks :)

It's a 6NZ Cat. It's a 2013 they bought as a glider and had it built. Not a bad truck overall, 20 front, 46k 2 speed rears, double frame. At least there's no emissions bs on it. At least the rain has stopped for a bit so maybe I'll stay dry tomorrow. Cold wet sob today.

Never really rained up here, but it was misting and blowing pretty good most of the day. Felt more like fall than spring.

Enjoy the rain. Snow dabbling here yesterday. Supposed to get 14" in the next few days. The weather folks say we are in for a beauty.

They're calling for 5-6" of rain starting tomorrow afternoon. On top of the 5-6" we got last week. Rivers and creeks are FULL. Frost on my truck this morning in Joplin. Crazy spring

It was a little luck on the wire. I was in the zone that day I guess lol. Got lucky and stayed dry today. They missed the forecast a bit. Looks like rain tomorrow.

IMG_8754.JPG I've been nicknamed here..... I guess it's because I'm not afraid to dive into the nastiest job and I don't keep my truck spotless inside like others :)

They stuck it in the haul truck behind the little peep window.

Not bad. He always sticks with it and gets the job done. Does not pay no attention to the BS either.

The only explaination I have for someone having a spotless truck is that they don't work. I mean I keep my truck presentable looking and organized but at the end of the day, its a work truck. I don't have time to keep every speck of dust off the dash lol.

It doesn't help that I have two, the service truck and haul truck. Most of the time I roll in to the shop in one and out in the other. They're not that bad, the top guys there are very particular about their stuff so the example is set by them. I keep it clean but not spotless like them. I don't have the time or energy. I'd love to have them call me, "are you on the way yet?" My response "nope cleaning my truck I'll get there when I get there". Holy cow they'd come uncorked over something like that!

I did have time to pull the floor mats out of the haul truck and wash them, vacuum it out etc. It was due for service so I knocked it out today. Headed to southern Oklahoma Monday to a bridge job on Greasey Bend Rd......oh the fun I could have with that!!! 108" hole, not sure what they're doing on a bride that ends up that size, I guess we will know Monday!

Nice looking equipment there. I used to drive haul truck and service truck to but just got to much and the boss always thought I didn't keep things clean enough. Now the haul truck driver keeps it clean and shiney and he says oh you just clean it when you get back to shop like ya that works nice when need to work on a dozen more important things! Do you know what that semi tractor weighs? We was looking at something like that besides with a little bunk and not the 2 spd rears.

With the lowboy I'm 52-53k empty. That trailer is heavy. I'd say the truck is 24-25k. That rack is heavy and it's packed full of chains, tools and rigging. I had a similar Pete a few years ago with a 48" bunk and it was 23,500.

I think it looks good. Get it laminated and tape it in. Better yet get one of your kids to color it first.

At the end of the week I give my service truck a good cleaning. During the week I just keep up on best I can. Toss out empty pails, broken parts etc.
