Has anyone on this forum ordered a rebuild engine from Capital Rebuild and Exchange company, Denver, Colorado?I would like to know about your experience, good or bad! Please let me know. Thanks.

Have you considered a Diesel Mechanic's school to do a rebuild. Years ago, Dunwoody, a noted heavy equipment school in MN, used to rebuild folks engines and transmissions as class learning projects. Engine owner had to pay for parts only. Not sure if they still do it or if they would accept a old school engine. Might be worth a call.

I have to purchase a new engine oil cooler for a long block engine that is on order.Next to the engine oil cooler is the hydraulic oil cooler. My question is, why does the hydraulic oil have to go through the hydraulic oil cooler, then go up to the cooler on the radiator and get cooled twice?I am still learning!!

Watched several 3306 crate engines sell on gov't lic the other day....brought more than I expected. Ran in the $12-$14,000 range.
These were D7F engines all complete.....if you could still get them from Cat I can't imagine what they would charge. I suppose they are in demand because they're pre-emissions engines too.

There are 3 more coming up for sale on March 16

I'm guessing they're pre-comb engines but I couldn't see for sure in the pics.
They're set up for 189 hp so it would make your D6 a real powerhouse. :)
The procurement history lists a couple of prices 1997....$16,100......another undated price of $22,072. Vendor is listed as Caterpillar but who knows if new or re-man.

I'd like to have one of those rat-holed myself but don't think I can sink that much in one. (plus 12.5% buyer's premium and probably $1000 shipping)

Can you run an older d6c with more hp than what the machine is rated for??Seems to me more hp would stress out the other components of the drive train!

As long as weight is not added or the tracks modified beyond normal for enhanced traction the extra horsepower should not add drivetrain stress. The machine are designed strong enough to easily spin the tracks without failure to the drive system. It should just do the same work at a better speed if doing something like ag work. Every time a steering clutch is pulled you double the HP available to the other track.

Is it normal for the turbo to have a slight drag ,when it is turned by hand. Mine seems to turn a little rough! Your input is greatly appreciated.
