    Computers anyone?

When the year 2000 came I said I would never buy a new vehicle newer than that. Since then I have reduced that to 1995. With OBD II everything became too complex to provide reliability. I currently drive a '92 F250. It depends on a computer which worries me but I have had several of this era and...

Finger tip steering conversion kit for old caterpillar dozers

Even the '39 1H D8 had a spring assist boost system on the steering clutches. It is an over center deal. If it is adjusted properly steering is practically fingertip. I think the problem is it doesn't stay in adjustment. I know on a D4 the transmission cover has to come off to get into that...

I don't think that nut should be backed off at all. It is there to hold spring tension to a certain specified length. At this point I believe the tracks are being tensioned by the springs. You need to have the bolt and nut holding tension. Then maybe you can back off on the adjustment.

Bought a used 303.5 - Scammed or just Stupid? Or both?

Local auction had a couple of Bobcats sold over $20k. They had many brand new micro excavators with 13 hp air-cooled engine. These sell for about $3400, some pay more. I thought this might impact the price of the mini's but I guess not.

    Stuck new track chains

It is nearly impossible to get much oil or diesel in to those pins unless they can be completely submerged and it allowed time for it to seep in. Water is the penetrant of necessity. If the Cat can be parked in a creek overnight that might do the trick. I have a few stuck on a D4, I planned to...

Good Chinese companies to buy mini excavator?

Bar none auction has a bunch of mini ex's listed brand new. I think these are powered by 13 hp Briggs. A study of the last sale shows them selling for about $3600. Andrew Camarata has one he paid about $5000 for and has been doing meaningful work with it.

    Cat 933 realistic capabilities

What jumps out at me is the level of dried mud and rust. Shows it hasn't moved or worked in a very long time, makes me wonder why.

Pony motor issue all over again.

Do you still have the original points? I often find points in mags that are far better than any you can buy today. I f you can see layers of tungsten or whatever it is they are worth saving. New points nowadays are plated crap and won't last. Good points take them out and reface with Dremel.
