    Stick that boom up into some trees and you may get showered in hydraulic oil. I think those machines have a spot, not sure where, but I imagine it would start with an owner operator.

    Long Reach purchase.

    We have a Cat 312 set up with a long reach boom, works real well for smaller tight jobs. The 30” bucket on it is about the size of a bucket on an 80 class machine. Keep an eye on the auctions, you may be able to find a long reach setup for your machine there. Your idea sounds feasible to me.

    I would think a 35 size machine would work fine. Especially if you pair the auger drive to the flow capability of the machine. Its probably a better choice than a track machine since you can dig your footings if you can’t drill them.

    Mark, sorry for you troubles but glad to hear you are on the mend. Sh!t happens and never at a good time. I would definitely reach out to a mobile mechanic, the money spent on him replacing it will be money well spent. It won’t be cheap, but it’s hard to put put a price on your well being….
