    Continental parts

I have a 1949 Reo truck with a Continental 6427 overhead valve engine. I am in search of a water pump or rebuild kit. Any information about where to find parts will be greatly appreciated. Thanks Steve

1974 cummins ntc 350 valve adjustment

I think there are some special wrenches for that, but I always pull the jakes off. That way, everything's wide open. There's a little rubber o ring on the bottom of some jakes you want to make sure gets put back in upon assembly.

    Eaton transmission

You need the overdrive ratio, rear end ratio, and tire size, then I have a chart where I can figure it out.

What Are The Best Tools On The Market?

I was always a Snap On guy, their flank drive end wrenches are hands down absolutely the best open ends on the market. Also, you can use their chrome hand sockets on impact and they will live for quite a long time. I have a snap on roll away that my dad's uncle bought new in the 1940's and it...

    Waukesha Engine Parts

I was wondering where a guy might find Waukesha parts. I got a call from a customer that their 750kw gen has an oil leak. I don't have any details yet, as far as what engine, or what parts I need. All I know right now it's a huge v 12 diesel. I'm going to look at it next week. Any help would be...

    CAT CT660 Pics released

I just wonder if the engine sits out where it belongs, or if it's stuffed in under the dash like the rest of these snub nosed things that are running around nowdays.

    Vintage Mack question

Yeah, his name is Dave. He's got a lot of cool stuff. Don't go lurking around looking at stuff without talking to him first tho, you may not like the end result. Try this link http://www.hankstruckpictures.com/pix/trucks/shelton/2004/show/dsc_6634.jpg

The calls you'd rather not have gotten.

Most of them. Here's another. "My engine's making a rattling noise, do you think it'll make it to Seattle?"

    Vintage Mack question

My neighbor has a 1955 LTL cab and front clip on a late 80's Freightliner chassis with a 425 mechanical Cat and 13 speed. He pulls his lowboy with it every day.

    Our new project...

Nice!! Those old 352's are cool old trucks. My dad worked for Inco Express in the 70's when they ran a lot of those. He had 3 of them leased on with them. I don't ever remember seeing one with a cab jack that worked right. It seemed like the reservoir was too small. They'd run out of fluid about...

    Ether addicted engines

I once rebuilt an engine out of a John Deere 670 grader. The owner sent his own guys down to pick it up and install it themselves. They called up a couple days later complaining about massive amounts of blow-by, and leaking head gasket. This time they brought the whole machine in, and all the...

The calls you'd rather not have gotten.

I've had a lot over the years, but here's a couple that I can think of right off hand. About 3am," I just hit a cow on I90 just past Adams Road, and it's balled up under the front diff." What a friggen mess, blood guts hide, hair and **** hanging off everything. Had to crawl in there and...

Design Flaws: What would you do better?

Howbout my Dodge, where you have to remove the battery and airbox to change a headlight bulb. I liked my 03 GMC, you could just pull 2 pins, and the headlight assembly would plop right out in your hands. AWESOME IDEA!! Unitized hubs on Dodge 4x4? There's a real winner, NOT!! Parking brake...

Design Flaws: What would you do better?

I don't even know where to begin with trucks. Anything built by Volvo/ Mack is a mechanic's nightmare. If you're going to build short hooded trucks with the engines under the dash, then make an access panel on the damn firewall that's easily removed. (Ever try to change the fuel line to the back...
