    Cat Backhoe Hydraulic Valve Question

Attached is a photo of the part I am referring to. There is no part number because you can’t buy separately from the valve.

    Cat Backhoe Hydraulic Valve Question

No that isn’t it. The tube I am talking about is not on that drawing. That looks like a different section but if you removed the plug (part #13) the tube would be down in there. I believe it sets on a spring and is pushed down by hydraulic pressure and rises by the spring’s resistance. You...

    Cat Backhoe Hydraulic Valve Question

Thanks.. I’ll check both of them out. But to my original question, will only a Cat valve work or will any valve that will handle the same pressure work?

    Cat Backhoe Hydraulic Valve Question

I have searched for a used valve assembly with no luck. The boom section of my valve is definitely bad. The other sections are working but might possibly be damaged as well. When I bought the hoe, it had a brand new pump on it. The previous owner kept turning up the pressure as the older pump...

    Cat Backhoe Hydraulic Valve Question

I have a mid 80’s Cat 426 backhoe that needs the rear 6 valve assembly that operates the hoe. I know the Cat valves are different than most other manufacturers since they have resolvers. These valves are very difficult if not impossible to find used, and a new one cost more than the backhoe is...

Cat 426 Perkins 4.236 Injection Pump Issue

Ok… I loosened the return line coming back from the injectors to the filter housing. It run like a champ but sprayed fuel every where so there must be a blockage between the filter housing back to the tank. I am having trouble getting a wrench on the return line where it goes into the tank. I’m...

Cat 426 Perkins 4.236 Injection Pump Issue

Exactly what is the best way to blow out the bleeder valve? This is a Perkins 4.236 engine and the injection pump has a lower and upper bleeder plug? This is not my injection valve but looks just like it only mine is Cat yellow. If that top bleeder plug is removed then the engine will run. If...

Cat 426 Perkins 4.236 Injection Pump Issue

I have not tried starting it with the return line unhooked yet because I wasn’t sure which one was in-fact the return line. Where is the best place to disconnect the return line from?

Cat 426 Perkins 4.236 Injection Pump Issue

I have an 89 Cat 426 Backhoe that I let sit for a couple years without cranking. I drained the fuel tank, changed the filters, put in new clean fuel, and bled the injectors. Trouble is that it will crank and only run for about 10 seconds before dying. The injection pump has two bleeder valves...

    Fuel Priming Troubles...(Perkins 4.236 Engine)..Inline 12V Fuel Pump?

I went a head and installed a $42.00 inline electric fuel pump. Had backhoe primed and up and running within 5 minutes. Sooo much easier now. I just used the electric pump to bleed air and then cranked engine and ran with stock manual fuel pump. Most all other Cat backhoes I have seen only had...

    Fuel Priming Troubles...(Perkins 4.236 Engine)..Inline 12V Fuel Pump?

I did try this starting with the bottom bleeder first then the top bleeder. I'm trying to do this alone and very hard to tell if all air is out from the drivers seat working the key. This is the reason I'm asking about the possibility of using a 12v inline electric fuel pump. Would make it so...

    Fuel Priming Troubles...(Perkins 4.236 Engine)..Inline 12V Fuel Pump?

I did not prefill the filters. These are not spin on filters and I saw no easy way to prefill without losing all the prefilled fuel before getting the canister back together. I tried the prime lever numerous times after several cranks of the starter. Made no difference at all.

    Fuel Priming Troubles...(Perkins 4.236 Engine)..Inline 12V Fuel Pump?

In the past week, I have noticed my new to me Cat 426 losing power when going up hills or digging under load. I suspected clogged fuel filters so I removed the two canister filters as well as cleaned out the screens on the fuel pump and injector pump. The old filters were very dirty and all but...
