    Please help, blade sharpness issue

As far as better penetration when the blade is pitched forward......I believe it has to do with the width of the steel pushing down into the ground. If you run with the top of the blade approximately 2" ahead of the bottom, you get nice rolling action of the material. Remember, an earth mover...

    Rookie questions

From the Caterpillar Application Guide for Motor Graders......... Moldboard tip. This is a very important feature: its proper use will increase machine productivity, increase cutting edge life and could prevent machine damage. The top of moldboard can be tipped ahead of or behind the...

    Cat K series

Let me set the record straight During the H-Series there were two versions, a standard and a global. The global version is the one you recognize here in North America. The Tier 2 global version built from 2002 - 2007 had the black saddle tanks for fuel. The standard version never got those...

    cat m popularity

Just to be clear on the detent, removing it eliminates the need for perfect articulation calibration as someone else mentioned. Removing it also helps when there is crown on the road. Just like in your truck, you're always making small steering corrections for wind or road crown. Operators...

Difference in Cat 12G and 120G?

I'll add a couple of more items. When the graders moved to the M-series for Tier 3, a few additional changes happened. The 12M went onto the same platform as the 120M. They both use the same chassis and C6.6 engine. The 140M and 160M use the same chassis. As Randy mentioned, the 14M has a...

    Volvo G946B

Several posters are correct about Volvo using the SVAB system. Caterpillar does NOT use SVAB. The two systems are not the same and do not come from the same supplier.

    Advice for new Sewer/Water loader

Sewer and Water 950H has a 962H counterweight and additional horsepower. It does not show up on a spec sheet, so don't go by specs alone. The Deere may look like they have more power and tipping load on paper, but thats only as good as the paper its printed on. Also make sure when you test...

    Grader Joysticks V Lever Control

Blademan-1: Latest software update provides selectable implement controls. You can slow down the blade lift/lower to make finishing easier. Three modes are selected from inside the cab through the messenger system on the right hand ROPS post. myeffy: If your having steering calibration...

    m grader

The M's work well in finish applications as well. May not be the first hour, but most operators catch on fast. The operator in the first picture is grading a new street in Salt Lake City. The 140M is a rental, which the operator has taken to like a duck to water. He wants to keep it and...

    Cat m wreck

I disagree. I've been over rough terrain with M's and they steer just fine. The controls are mounted to the floor, they don't move as violently as an air ride seat does. The joysticks also have enough resistence in them that they don't flop around when your going over a bump, or several...

    Cat m wreck

Another thing people don't realize is there is a switch in the cab that kills all hydraulics except steering for transport. The steering is also speed sensitive to ensure that the front tires can't be steered too fast during transport. The joysticks are also mounted to the floor of the...

    Cat m wreck

You can take your hand off of the right joystick when you back up. Its actually a lot less dramatic than some people make it out to be. Your not flying an F-16. Seriously though, most people are uncomfortable in an M because they think they need a death grip on both joysticks. Operators...

    953d

Has anyone operated a D-Series with the new joystick steering option? I ran one for about 5 minutes and fell in love. Its much easier to run than the v-handle and steering pedals. Its like a giant skid steer.

    First M to Norway?

Might want to do a little more homework. None of the M's have air brakes. They are all hydraulic brakes now. Also, steering becomes less sensitive starting in 5th gear to make it easier to handle at higher speeds.
