New to me JD 790D LC

Hi there, I'll take some pictures from the manual as to what switches/lights. I've never heard of electric fans on this old of a machine, most likely an"aftermarket" install, possibly hiding the underlying cause of why it's overheating? Can you take some pics?? Cheers

    Ford 655a cold start problems

I've found all engines (Ford/Leyland/BMC) with a Simms/minimec pump are hard starting cold. Using the excess fuel button is a must!

Is offroad fuel thing of the past?

I've never had a problem with marked diesel, but have had issues with marked gasoline. Dye separated out of the gas and eventually filled the float bowl of my generator with useless red juice. My neighbor had been running marked (farm) gas in his late model low mile Toyota pickup, clogged up...

    Clearing Snow ideas.....

I've got a 12ft snow blade off a tractor I grab with the thumb, works good for dry snow. Also done it with my 60" clean up bucket, digging and piling heavy wet dumps, I found using the swing you end up finding all the froze rocks, dirt clumps etc.. Not good for the boom or swing drive!

    Slobbery Deere, blowby question

Good deal, you confused me by the question of if the head specs were in the service manual.. I would have assumed you'd have read through it already.

    Gray market Airman ax40

Off their website "1991 Began to sell new mini-excavator AX series which was jointly developed with Hitachi Construction Machinery. Created a new sensation with original color of purple into construction industry which orange color is popular." So I guess they are basically one and the same?

    Slobbery Deere, blowby question

In the CTM1 6466 service manual it specs maximum blowby out crankcase breather tube @ 494 cu ft/hr, wonder how one would test that? (Edit) I didn't see JohnCs post above... I've got the manual in PDF if you need it.

The wiring diagrams match mine other than the alternator as mine has a Delco rather than Motorola. The 24v-12v converter is an add on for in cab accessories, radios etc, It may have been added to the later wiring diagrams? These are from Jan/88. What problems do you have electrically? Yes...

Hey John, I've got a complete fold out wiring diagram/schematic, I can take pics of certain sections of it if you need. Here's some pics of several individual. diagrams. Sounds like you either have a severely restricted hyd cooler or a problem with either the cooler bypass valve or the...

    24V battery charger

I have a wheeled 6/12/24v charger, Associated model 6006, had it for 5 or 6 years it's been good to me. I really need to get one of those booster packs, could have used one yesterday....

    3406A liners

Somehow failed to catch that they were bent, they weren't horrible, but still obvious. I never got to lay eyes on them until they came back, it was one of those "I get the (dis)pleasure of finishing" jobs..

    3406A liners

Had a dozen 71 series Detroit rods sent out to a well known machine shop in Nanaimo years ago, got them back all nice and reworked, 3 were visibly bent!o_O The company did source and supply replacements free of charge in short order and we continued to do business after, hopefully whoever did...
