    Benefits of excavator over track loader

    as for stripping out topsoil and hauling it away, i think it'd be more efficient to use a dozer/hoe combo on anything bigger than 2 acres. what do you guys think?

    what was the hardest machine for you to learn?

    we have mustangs with the T-handle and pedals and a new gehl track loader with bucket on the left and direction on the right joystick .gehl wins- no contest.

    basement water

    call a sewer service company, they'll most likely send a camera down your main line to check for cracks, or use tracing dye. not sure how you'd check the water though? maybe dont use any water in the house and make sure the meter isnt running?? could it be a natural sprig under the basement??

    not too sure on the exact limit of slope that hoe can handle, its really up to the operator and what he feels comfortable with. like Cascade said, keeping the bucket pointed towards the bottom of the hill would be the best so you dont have to worry about tipping.

    Compaction Techniques

    we usually run 2 hoes, one with a hoepack bucket, and a loader on a pipe job. we'll use the hoepack to compact the trench while back filling and then bring a roller every 1000 ft or so

    mostly sand. might hit some clay everynow and then.
