    The upcoming generation

The schools make schoolies that can talk good, some may come out ok but most come out with an attitude that is what they are best at. Just like colleges and engineers, they come out and can use computer software, and work some math, but know nothing about how machinery works, since they never...

What do you think is the most exciting development in construction technology right now?

Technology is supposed to make our lives easier. Problem is it has done just the opposite. Things were way better before the digital revolution, even TV's worked better then, and farther back things just seemed safer, life and data wise.

    The upcoming generation

When I worked at a huge manufacturing company in the early 70's, it seemed most of the people there (lots of old ww2 folks) fit what you say. I always wondered how they ever got into the profession. Kids? I remember working with fairly fresh tech schoolies that thought they were the all...

Land has been cut and left in a mess. Best cheapest way to plant trees and fix it up?

That would be easy clearing if there is no wet areas. The planting in slash in Wa is not smart, just helps the fires if they come.

What do you think is the most exciting development in construction technology right now?

Yeah why not then any idiot can be a heavy equipment operator, just like in the metal machining industry. Problem is I can't see any sort of autonomous machine doing land clearing. Just one wayward vine maple knocking out a few of the sensors and the dozer is heading for some ones house or...

    TD20E general maintenance

If its a concern to protect the machine use old cut to fit mud flaps then chain to hold the blade up to move it.

    TD20E general maintenance

Yeah looks like a very low time machine. And a not very smart thing someone is doing there. Those brackets with the screw drivers pinning them are meant to hold those lift cylinders AFTER THEY ARE DISCONNECTED FROM THE BLADE. If everything is hooked up you asking for trouble. Being forget full...

    BCIII Cummins Rebuild.

This not only looks better than any factory reman offering, I'm betting its built 100% much better than one as well. Really a good job Truckshop.

    BCIII Cummins Rebuild.

Back in the early 90's thats what a cat shop used too. After some time it separates and comes out of the tube funky. Sta lube is supposed to be good stuff, and likely real good for old flat tappets.

    Deere ECM Repair Shop?

Its just too bad all these black boxes in machines and automotive never have any sort of service information available. Sounds like an easy fix with the right service info available.

    #3406C low power

What is the whole story? When did this start to happen? And is that why you did all the work to it? Maybe the gizmo that the flywheel or pto is hooked to has the problem, and is just over loading it? This is just more info to think about. Is the governor responding to the load? Is pump timed...

D7F Transmission over heating after 3-4 hours

50K for and engine and TC overhaul, wow. Could have got another newer larger dozer for that. Spent lots of time on D7F's big toy with no push in my opinion.

    Komatsu 135A-1

They are equal to a D8H or K. Being rare parts are the issue I suppose.

How wide is a caterpillar D8H

Don't have the dims handy, but with Blade off trunions make it over 10 feet I think, then what pad size. Sometimes those richie specs are questionable.

    D11R pivot shaft seals

Sounds like an engineering and manufacturing issue. How come Cat hasn't fixed the problem?
