i dont believe its pressurized. when i remove the starter on my loader i was shocked to see oil in the bell housing....but for what ever reason its supposed to fill that.

    Hole in transmission case!

if its like the 175b then the bell housing gets filled with tranny fluid when the rear frame is filled . looks like the drain bolt and "nipple" have sheared off. could have been plugged with epoxy and it failed.

what causes a stick cylinder to bend ?

This was the piston up on top of the boom the brings the stuck in and out. Anyway We found a rebuilt one at another shop for half the cost of cat. I think the underlying issue was there when we got it but it's too late now.

    older I-H 260A, transmission problems

common problem was the plate that the converter bolts to would tear and the bolts would pull right out of it causing it to still move but not be abole to climb or push. my fathers backhoe did this a few times. he eventually got sick of repairing it and sold it

What's 350 more dozer hours than you paid for worth?

352 hours in two weeks seems like someone left the key on while it was sitting waiting for you....you would have to work it 20 hours a day to get anywhere near that. you maybe can get a free 500 hour service out of them

    CAT vs. CASE

our 2003 420d just hit 21,000 hours with no required repairs other than tires, starter and alternator. we tried a 580 before this was purchased and it was just too small. it was a nice machine though. cant really say anything bad about it.

    should i buy the 420 d?

we have one at work. bought it with 4 hours on it in 2003. it just turned 20,000 hours and other than teeth, tires and hoses its been trouble free and still runs and operates very well. had to replace the forward-reverse switch in the dash twice but thats it. i believe the cost new was less than 70k
